Default I guess I got off easy, but I'm still ticked!

I had a buyer bid on a bag I've been trying to sell. She had a new account and had e-mailed me something about opeing a new PayPal account and would I wait until it was verified before I expected payment. So, really, I already had an uneasy feeling about the whole transaction. I just got an e-mail this morning saying she had a family emergency, had to buy an $800 plane ticket, and therefore couldn't pay for the bag. Then she asked if I would please cancel her bid after she won the auction.
Well, I immediately cancelled the bid (why give her the option of giving me weird feedback after she gets "buyer" status? Especially since I have NO recourse feedback-wise) and then put her on my blocked list.
I hate to be suspicious. Sure, it could happen, but haven't I read other threads where this is a new phenomenon? Why would you apparently open a new account to bid on something you can't pay for? I don't get it.
And now I'm really irritated because I need to sell this bag, I'm tired of paying listing fees, and I don't want to just keep it (to not have to deal with the eBay irritation) because I don't think I'll ever use it.
Arg.

I think your better off in the long run not selling to this Buyer, but I understand that it is very annoying for you because you have to pay the fees again and re-list the bag.

I looked up this buyer on eBay, and she's bid on several auctions in the past week. She's currently still the high bidder on another higher-priced bag. I wonder if that seller is getting the run-around, too.

I'm glad to see that you were able to canceled the bid of that PITA buyer. I've never encountered so many NPBs as last month and they gave me all the excuses in the book too, ugh.

I had the same thing happen. New ebayer bid last minute. I email her about payment and she is like " is this a reals bag ". I replied it was and feel free to get it authenticated. No word back no payment. I wish I could block new ebayers so they could contact before buying.

^^ I am so sorry you honest sellers are going through this. As strictly a buyer (at least so far) I was shocked that sellers cannot leave negative feedback for buyers anymore. I figured the non-paying buyers would multiply and it sounds like they are. It also seems unfair that those of us who have 100% positive feedback over the years are really going to look the same as a new to eBay dead beat buyer because the new ebayer could also have 100% feedback if they pay for 1 item and have buyers remorse (and not pay) for 10! I wonder if this new system will last....
