Default I got my Muse II .. but...
I got a Muse II medium in blue gray leather from Bonanzle. Although the bag was advertised as brand new, and the seller did mention slight discoloration under the flaps, when I got it and examined it, I immediately noticed that the blue gray leather is significantly yellowed/faded on the entire left side/panel of the bag. There are significant variations in color throughout the entire bag- as I read on TPF light blue bags are very prone to yellowing and fading over time...

I love the shape of the bag but the color is just driving me nuts - it looks as it is really dirty on the left side, it is ok on the back and darker and bit "dusty" looking on the front, and the handle is pristine light blue... Besides all that, the bag has a strong fishy smell - I also read it happens to leather sometimes, however was no mention of this from the seller.

I cant return the bag as there is no return policy. I love the bag shape and am considering may be to redye it? Can yellowing of the blue leather be cleaned? Does anyone know how to get rid of the fishy smell? Any advice is appreciated.
Thank you!!!

u should demand a refund. contact the seller b/c it is not what you were paying for.
contact paypal..they usually stand on the buyers' side.

you can redye the bag..and i am sure someone can do you. her name is barbara??
i know lemon can absorb the bad smell...but i am not sure how to do it otherwise...how much did you pay for the bag if you don't mind me asking?

is this the auction: http://www.bonanzle.com/booths/abbyergr/items/8650175?

from the pictures the bag does appear to have discolored/faded (i can't imagine why if it has been stored and not used), but there is no mention of weird smells -- did you ask her specifically? i have never heard of leather smelling fishy. before you do ANYTHING to the bag i suggest you talk to the seller and see if you can work something out. i would also seek advice in the ebay forum since the people there have a lot of experience with these problems.

good luck!

Thank you so much everyone for your responses. I just contacted the seller lets see what she says. I am very concerned - never had any issues buying on ebay or bonanzle and she is a tpf member as well, and knows another member who sold me my beloved copper Bottega, so I really trusted her...
THere was a receipt with the bag indicating she bought it on Oct 28 09. Which means it was immediately listed after it was bought ( probably to resell and it may have been bought at a sample sale as the price is very low and the bag is a final sale).
The discoloration which she did disclose is not a big deal and is on the front. I am referring to the left side panel which is literally dirty looking yellowish brown patches. the whole bag is very uneven in color it looks as if the blue has faded may be because it was standing under strong sun in the store for quite a while?
The smell is so strong that my coworkers noted it and they also noticed the brownish patches on the bag side - I am the bagaholic in my office, and when I get a new bag everyone runs to check them out KWIM? I was kind of embarrased I must say...
I am going to see what she says - because it is a no returns sale I am so worried there is nothing I can do without starting some sort of a yucky dispute... oh, and I paid 745 including shipping.

no, if the bag is not as described and with serious flaws, that is returnable and paypal or credit card will deal with it for you

you are right about the smell though, some blue dyes have serious fish smell, like blue one kate Moss was modeling, Prada blue base colors (I had plum) stink !!, I sold it cheap because buyer agreed to the smell - I could not deal with it. Even my nubuck almond muse II with leather flap has stronger fish smell than any other leather...but I do not mind it, it is milder than orher

color is something you really have to report, as well as not mentioning anything about the smell, she HAD to if it is "as described" according to agreement of selling

take as good pics as possible, send them to PayPal or credit card company you used and they will start the process....I had to do it oncedo not keep it, a lot of money for something that is bothering you

I do have to say blue leather is one of the worst colors for fading and discoloration. But if that was not pointed out in the auction (the degree that it is actually faded), I would say the OP has a SNAD on their hands?

I also heard blue dye is incredibly unstable- blue in general and that's why we get denim transfers, etc... The last picture shows significant fading already.

That's irrelevant if you got a defective bag. Have you contacted the seller?

Please read my response to the seller. It is very upsetting that she is making accusations such as "she is full of it" and "she has a remorse".
I sent her a message but have not received a response.
My post was done in order to get advice on how to dye or potentially clean it, as you can read from my post I was not even hoping for a return.
In any case, instead of freaking out I would hope she would at least respond to my email first!!!
This bag didnt cost nearly as much as I spend regularily on designer bags ( Bottega, Balenciaga etc) - you can see from my feedback which bags I buy - and NEVER had to return or complain. I am not a person who would experience a buyer's remorse, it is rediculeous.
As some of you confirmed, the blues do smell and tend to fade. I am simply describing what I am dissatisfied with and asking for advice on what can be done.

I just saw the other thread. Sorry OP, but you two need to resolve this privately, as it's against the forum's rules to have buyer vs. seller threads such as these. Good luck.

I agree. My original post has to do with asking if I can dye or clean the bag and get rid of the smell.
I still would like advice on that.
I hope to receive a response from the seller so that we could deal with this privately.
However, if you have any advice re original request - cleaning and dying please provide.
I also called YSL this morning to ask if they can help clean and get rid of the smell. Waiting to hear back from the NY store on how this can be handled.
THank you
