Default How to proceed with this transaction?

I need some suggestions. I listed a bag and it sold to a french buyer. My auction stated I use a secure checkout but i forgot to turn off Paypal option. I sent a google invoice but the buyer paid via paypal (instant payment).

of course, the address is unconfirmed - being in france - and there's no seller protection. the buyer has not responded to any of my emails (in english/french) asking him/her to confirm that he/she is aware custom charges are his/her responsibility and also to confirm the shipping address.

Buyer has excellent feedback and has been a member since 2006.

Do I wait for a response or, since he/she has paid, send it? i'll feel better if the buyer confirms that yes, he/she is aware custom fees may be charged.

Thanks!

I will refund the money and tell her because her address in unconfirmed, she needs to pay via credit card thru google checkout, because their credit card verification is better and safer than paypal. (I also like to remember the buyers that google checkout is also used by many big retailers like toys R us, amazon, etc)

hmmm i wouldve been ok shipping internationally if there was more feedback coz at least that would give me an idea on the buying history of the buyer

Go with what you are more comfortable with, in this case getting the email that confirms she agrees with the terms.

This way if anything happens she agreed you are at no fault because she was the one who understood the terms and gave it the green light.

By the way.. google checkout for international shipping, what is the difference between google and paypal??

I think that the majority of international bidders realize they are responsible for duty etc. but it doesn't hurt to confirm that. Have you checked their feedback to see if they have bought from international sellers before? If they have, its more likely they are familiar with how things work.

Effinhaute Duh! I just now figured out your name.
If the OP accepts Paypal form an unconfirmed buyer and that buyer says that they didn't get their item, I believe that Paypal will usually side with the buyer even if there is proof of delievery. So then, the seller would be out money. I'm not that familiar with Google checkout but I'm guessing that they don't get involved at all in things like that.

With google the credit card goes thru a more secure verification and they won't approve the transaction if the buyer is trying to use other address than the one listed. They also protect the seller if there is a "stolen card" claim. PayPal charges the card and then gives you an unconfirmed address and let you know you have no seller protection shipping to that address.

I use PayPal and google chockout but I feel much more secure using google with international transactions.

Thanks everyone! You put me at ease that my gut reaction is the right one! Especially as the account name is a man but the name for the address is only initials. And i still haven't heard back from the buyer.

The email confirming duty charges is based on paypal suggestions for selling to international buyer with no confirmed address. It suggests communicating with buyer and confirming shipping address before shipping.

thanks!
