Default How long for paypal claims (can I throw my mail receipts out?)

I remember reading a thread ages ago about someone who got a chargeback much later than a sale, so I was wondering how long do you keep your post office receipts with tracking info? I guess its not a lot of paperwork, but still I'd like to clean old ones out if possible.

I'd keep everything at least a year now, most credit card companies wont allow chargebacks after 6 months but there are a few folks who have had some up to 8 months later which leads me to believe maybe some CC's are extending their time limits.

I keep mine forever. I staple them to my credit card statement. I have statements going back for years. Eventually the file cabinet gets too full and I shred a couple of years worth!

When I was selling I kept mine for 5 years. (Still have them sitting in with my tax files)
But then I did this for tax reasons. I was claiming my true income from my sales and if I ever got audited I wanted to be able to clearly show what was true profit and what was the cost of the sale (not the postage obviously since that went straight to USPS).

some credit card companys allow customers to file a dispute up to a year and that is if the customer has all the info. i've heard that visa is only 3 months.you should always try and know your own credit card companys policy just in case you have a dispute also.sometimes in the case of construction etc,you might not have a dispute till 2 years later.also check with paypal on what their policy is.

Wow, a whole year. I think I'm going to save mine for a year. Anyone save longer than that? Paypal might have a difference policy I just don't want issues with a credit card company demanding their money 6 months later and Paypal freezing my account even if technically the time for a paypal claim has passed. Thanks ladies!
