Default How do you think about mis-spellings in lists

Well, I have to accept that I used to be very bad at doing listings. Mostly, I did my listings right before my daughter's bedding time. I submitted the lists without checking spellings. And......the listings persist for a long time in my stores...without double check.

Several days before I received a very rude message from a ebayer. She said, you got mis-spellings in your listings and your pictures of items showed wrapped hardwares, you are saling fakes. Her words hurt me a lot .

I understand it was my fault to leave mis-spellings and even worse to use it as a template. However, Is it right to draw such a conclusion without even asking to confirm?

I do somewhat agree that if anyone is trying to sell high-end items, they should put in some effort to make sure the listing is grammatically correct and free from spelling mistakes, and i guess it depends on the brand/designer as to whether they have wrapped hardware or not.
I, personally would be put off if the listing looked like no effort had been made.

I think whoever e-mailed you hwjfj2006 is mean because there was no need for her to accuse you of selling fake.

I don't really mind too much about the misspelling in the listing because it doesn't bother me.

I ALWAYS check my spelling before posting. I mean it's not that hard. It annoys me when I see misspellings in a listing and deters me from buying. Because if you can't even double check your listing that you are trying to gain profit from, what makes me think that you are going to double check my address? That could be the start of a LOOOONNNNGGG transaction.

And let's say you are selling a Louis Vuitton. If you misspell it like Louis Vuiton or some other variation, a lot of knockoffs spell it that way too. I would be compelled to think it was a fake.

If you look at the auctions of fakes, you may note that there are many misspellings. Having a great number in your listings make you look like one of "them." :(

But, no need for nasty messages!

One or two misspellings of common words would not bother me, but if the name of the designer was misspelled, I wouldn't bid. I don't know about other brands, but if I saw a Chanel bag with wrapped hardware, I would definitely not bid.

misspellings definitely hurt sellers as either buyers won't take it seriously, or they can't even find your listing. however, for me as a buyer, it would depend on what was misspelled.

on a side note, there are websites out there that searches for misspellings on eBay like www.fatfingers.com. there are many more but i don't recall off the top of my head.

There are a ton of eBay auctions that no one knows about because they are miss-spelled it's crazy. All those great deals..
