Default How do you say 'no' to a potential buyer wanting to try something on before buying?

I'm selling a pair of shoes, and just received a message from a buyer asking if she could come try them on (she lives about 15 minutes away) How do I say 'no' without sounding impolite or like I'm a scammer who don't have the shoes? I don't want random strangers coming to my house for a variety of reasons, nor am I particularly interested in sitting around waiting for someone who might not even show up. Any words of wisdom is appreciated

If you listed all measurements (not just the size) in your auction there is no reason for her to "try them on".

I don't want some stranger's bare feet in my house or my shoes.

I haven't listed the measurements, I find it a bit difficult to properly measure shoes (particularly the insole, and since the shoes are very pointy I think the measurements would be misleading unless she had a pair in the exact same style to compare them to ) I understand her concern, but I don't know how to say 'no' without sounding rude.

Just tell you are uncomfortable with strangers coming to your home and you do not have a store like other sellers may...careful tho, she may then want to "meet" you somewhere to try them.

For some sellers, this is just a hobby or PT thing and is not worth all the hassle of meeting up with people or any other high maintenance stuff. If they don't like it, don't bid is my thought. They get all upset like you are macy's or something not giving good "customer service."

i wouldn't even give an explanation. just say "sorry, trying on before bidding is not possible. i apprecaite your interest." and so be it. she'll either bid or not.

i always list 'final sale. no returns' in my auctions. so i don't have to deal with trying on/not liking/returning. never had a problem with anyone even asking to return.

just say that you are uncomfortable with it - really, you don't need to give an explanation. The buyer should understand.

Just tell her that your schedule fluctuates and it would just be sooo difficult to organize. She can always go to a dept store and try the designer on in a pump and an open shoes to figure out her size. I only buy brands who fit I KNOW (and are brand new) off eBay.

Good luck,
Cheers,

I wouldn't do it either, but offer to give her the measurements across the widest part of the toe as well as the interior footbed, etc. so she can compare them to an existing pair of her shoes.

Personally, I would not even respond and put her in the BBL right away.

Tell her you are not a store, she could try it in a store elsewhere. Add that you'd like to sell the shoes in new condition and if she tries it on it will no longer be new.

If you decide to give her measurements, make sure you say approximately so if she does win, she does not say you misrepresented the item.
