Hi, im new here I hope I do this right.

Anyways, I got a quest. for ya'll!

Are there more people out there that feel uncomfy buying stuff from eBay like me? Call me crazy but if I can't buy the item myself I got paranoid..wich is difficult because I could make good deals otherwise..I just feel ashamed I think.

Please help me to overcome this!

Thank you

well i just started buying off eBay and i was just as paranoid! however, you have to do your hw on the seller and get the bag authenticated here! eBay can be scary, but it can be a lot of fun too!

I don't generally do much buying on eBay, but I do alot of selling of my stuff to make some extra $$$. I keep my items, (handbags, shoes, etc.) in pristine condition, so when it comes time that I do not wear or use them anymore, I always head to eBay with my stuff. The fees may be a little high, but honestly, where else are you going to have so much exposure and sell things for as high as they go? Not a yard sale! And not consignment!
I did buy a bag recently on eBay (I am so hesitant to be the "buyer"!) but I got an amazing NWT bags that I am in love with! So I guess I was lucky!

I am totally terrified about buying or selling on eBay, especially after reading some of the horror stories on the ebay thread.

I'm sure for most of the time it's great, but some of the bad experiences I've read about are enough to put me off!

hi all-I agree that eBay can be scary, but like cooper1 I've used it to sell alot of my stuff that I don't use anymore which gives me the extra $$ to buy new things! My best advice is to do your homework (check completed listings for multiples of the same bag and feedback), trust your instincts and if it seems too good to be true-it probably is. The best part of eBay for me is being able to sell things I know I have taken great care of to someone who will use it instead of it sitting in my closet.
p.s. I love that you can get things authenticated here as I am looking at my first Botkier on eBay-I hope it's the real deal b/c I it!

I agree. I have purchased items off of eBay, but not designer items. I think there are so many other places to get a good deal that I don't need to risk eBay.

I started off small on eBay. One of the first items I bought was a $5 keychain! That was back in 1999, when eBay was really getting off the ground. If you're freaked out, buy lesser expensive things to get your feet wet. Then after you've got some confidence you can move on to bigger things and also sell too. If you're interested in selling, also start with small things (probably under $20) and go from there.

Yes, there are bad apples on eBay, and I've gotten ripped off too. The best advice I can give is that if you're buying, American Express has the best current customer protection. I never buy anything designer without using my Amex.

I do buy designer bags on eBay, but only if they're in very good condition. Once I bought an LV black multicolore speedy but I wound up reselling it because it was just too "worn" for me.

Just jump in, you'll get the hang of it!

I now have mixed feelings about eBay so I'm very careful when buying anything over $50. Also there is always a slight amount of anxiety; will the item be in good condition, will it be a fake... Over the years my experience with eBay has been positive.

While there are always bad sellers/buyers, there are some really good ones too. I don't buy many bags on eB*y but I do sell. I try to be really accurate in my descriptions, include tons of pictures, and be as responsive as possible. In other words, I try to be the kind of seller that a buyer would want to deal with. In those cases where I do buy, if the seller is not that way, I walk away. And always use common sense and follow you gut, if something sounds too good to be true or just "off", hold off.

I prefer to buy at B&M stores where I can see, touch and return items. But there appear to be some great deals on eBay. If it looks too good to be true, but the seller has 99.7% postive feedback, then would you say it's probably OK? Last week I saw someone selling a Botkier bag from the new line for around $300 (NWT)...can't understand where these people get these items so cheap?

I've just started buying bags on eBay. It's true, you do have to be very careful, ask questions before bidding. I've noticed that sometimes the photos of the item are blurry or there's just one. That's when I get suspicious. And always ask if there are any defects in the items, some sellers are honest and some won't tell you anything that you don't ask.

As ever be a seller I have a negative feeling about eBay. They tends to protect buyer more than seller. As a buyer I never have any problems though.

I only twice (in about six years) had problems as a buyer but both times everything worked out...in one case I got my money back with an eBay dispute, but as a seller I never, ever encountered any problems; and if I am afraid of buying a fake bag there - well, that's why I am a member of this forum!

I am more a buyer than a seller. eBay works for me because I love vintage bags. Current season I prefer dept stores or boutiques. I started buying stuff on ebay in 1998 when people only took checks or money orders. Never had an issue.

Now, it seems there are more and more problems, especially with handbags. This go round, I've only had 3 issues with fake bags -- all resolved in my favor. So other than inconvenience, it's all good.

If you need NEW, then eBay is probably not the place for you. Good luck
