If you are going to return this bag, you will have your own shipping expenses

why would you agree to pay hers as well??

This doesn't sound like a mistake at all... think she (seller) would

have experience in knowing whether the bag is in excellent condition or not

Can you post pictures here so that we can see exactly what you are referring to??

And I am sure you realize that it wouldbe very difficult for Hermes to repair deep

cuts in the skin & dullness & wear expecially with an exotic skin such as this...

I´ve worked with this client for 2 years and we both are very similar when it comes to determine a bags condition. I reacted the same as my client when I first saw the bag in daylight.
I also contacted Hermès to see what they could do, but they needed atleast 4-5 months to get the bag through a Hermès spa. I know everyone can make mistakes, but the bag is not at all excellent. If it was then I would have sold it myself in my own store. I would not react like this otherwise. But a bag for 20K should be as described, or else you would want to return it. There are deep cratches and cuts at the bottom inside of the bag, but also a lot of dullness and wear on the leather.
I can pay the sellers shipping expenses, but I should not be held responsible for other costs..
I realise how frustrating this must be for you but since you have your own store don´t you think you could sell it there? Wouldn´t that be much easier? I know it´s not the most gratifying solution but maybe it will be less stressful?

To be protected by paypal as a buyer you must pay for the item with one payment. If you split it up you are no longer protected under the buyer protection agreement program. Your only recourse would be your CC I assume, but I have no experience with that at all since I´ve never been in this kind of situation (where I´ve had to file a charge back with my CC).
Yes I had to split the payment since the limit for paypal paymen are 10000 USD. But in order to get paypal protection for split payments, the seller must ship your item in 2 different packages, which she did (thank god). She sent the bag in one package and the strap and keys in another package..
I am now taking pictures of the bag which I will post later today..

I am not sure that is allowed since it was just one item. I am not sure though, and hopefully there are others here with more knowledge.

OP... since you have experience with Hermes do you think this bag could ever

be restored to the condition that you think it could be and thus able to

sell it??

I've never heard that. Hopefully its true. All I've ever heard is to never split payments because you aren't protected.

This would be very helpful in terms of getting the best advice on how to proceed with the situation.

You click on "go advanced" and then there´s a paperclip symbol. Click on that and insert your pictures.

Please take a look at some of the pictures I´ve taken. This is what the bag looks like in daylight. There´s a lot of dullness, scratches and tear to the leather.

There are some more pictures, and I can take more if you want. But I don´t want to take the bag out of it´s package again.. I just want to send it back..

The tears to me are unacceptable & reason enough to send the bag back and

appear to be in a place that would be hard to repair

The scratches & dullness of the skin would not please me at all...

IMO you definitely have a SNAD...you are just going to have to decide

the route you are going to take...

I don't think you have a very cooperative seller... she set forth her conditions

for return & if you accept them it will now be an additional$1000+(for shipping

back, cc fees, etc) plus the additional 10% re-stocking fee...plus your return

shipping....

Have you contacted your cc or made a call to pp to see what they are

advising the best way for you to proceed??? (paypal especially)

I've been doing some googling and so far haven't found anything that suggests you are covered for transactions over 10k with PP. Who told you that OP? The seller, or PP?

I might be able to restore the bag, but I´m afraid that someone might have tried to dye the bag on his/her own. If that´s the case Hermès won´t let the bag undergo a "spa treatment". Please see the pictures. The scratches and dullness are very clear in daylight.

That´s correct. If anyone other than Hermès has tried to repair/dye the bag they won´t Spa it.
