OP block that buyer so they can't bid on your auction again.

Thanks for the heads up...I just added the buyer to my Blocked Bidder/Buyer List.

I'm not trying to play devil's advocate here, and I don't sell so I've never been in the situation to get scammed but not all 0 fb bidders are that bad. OP I totally understand why you'd cancel if they have no PayPal account because that's your requirement, but just in general. I was a 0 fb bidder when I bid on, and won, a mbmj bag. My seller may have been nervous but I paid immediately and left feedback immediately upon getting the bag and finding it exactly as listed. Not all 0 fb'ers are immediately going to be problem buyers, in fact from reading things here it looks like sometimes people with a ton of fb are te problems!

I don't get you ladies.Weren't we all 0 fb buyers/sellers at first? If you take a few precautions and block out the no paypal account/negative fb etc bidders you shouldn't have any sort of problem with your auction or be paranoid about the respective buyer.

My main concern with zero feedback buyers is the lack of PayPal account. This is the only form of payment I accept. Most of my experience with zero feedback buyers (in the past) was that they didn't have a clue what was going on and were unable to complete the auction because they didn't have a PayPal account or didn't have a confirmed address in PayPal and once I had a zero feedback bidder who bid and was overseas even though my auctions state I only ship within the U.S.

Now that PF has shown me that there are parameters I can set that restrict bidders with no PayPal account or bidders with NPB strikes, I feel much better! Thanks so much to all who posted with great suggestions!

I didn't mean to lump all zero feedback bidders together and cast a bad light on them. I understand everyone has to start somewhere.

Yes we were, but new to eBay doesn't equate with not being responsible for reading the listing before bidding and knowing how the process works. The burden for these types of newbies shouldn't be on the seller.

I am 100% with you in saying " whatever" to bays rules about canceling buyers bids. You have to look out for your bedtime interests since it's your merchandise and your money. If they can't do more to protect sellers then sellers have to protect themselves.
Before I list anything to sell again, every measure will be taken-believe me.

I'm sure everybody using Ebay has had a problem with people not reading the listing (I know I have), but I don't see why you assume everyone with 0 feedback is that type of person. I was trying to point out 0 feedback means you're just starting to use Ebay, not necessarily you're going to be a nightmare buyer. I had 0 feedback buyers that were amazing and 20+ buyers that made me want to quit Ebay.

Are you ready Steve?
I have a 0 fb bidder right now. It isn't a $$$$$ item so I see no reason not to let them bid.

I agree we all had to start somewhere, but I started small and worked my way up. I didn't bid $$$$$ right out of the box.

There's no reason to assume everyone with 0 feedback doesn't read the listing, but OP's 0 feedback bidder obviously didn't, since they bid when she stated she doesn't allow it in her listing AND doesn't have Paypal when she stated that's the payment she accepts.

I'm not the one making assumptions......where did I say everyone with 0 feedback? I didn't.

Agree that high FB bidders can also be nightmares, but more people have recurring problems with zero FB bidders in general. eBay just isn't the same as it was 5+ years ago and I don't forsee it getting any better.

I agree, not all zero feedback bidders are bad. We were all in the same boat at one point. I am more with the OP on that I am more concerned if they do not have a paypal account, or they just signed up 5 minutes before they bid on my item. Someone else on the thread said (and I agree), it is best to start with small ticket items if you are new to purchasing on ebay, and work your way up to bigger items.

While I don't blame the OP for blocking that particular buyer because he/she was completely clueless, the increasing discrimination against zero and low feedback buyers is really terrible. Makes me wonder how they'll ever get any feedback if everyone refuses to sell to them. It's really wrong to white wash an entire group as scammers.

I agree. I lurked a lot on eBay before making a purchase on an MBMJ bag. I don't see why I'd have to buy a bunch of little stuff to build up feedback to buy expensive stuff.

That being said, OP's potential buyer was definitely sketchy.
