Help! I think I'm being scammed out of $1570!!

I'm going completely insane here! Last week I sold a Ocean Blue GSH City bag on eBay to a man in the Philippines. He told me that his wife's birthday was coming up and that she loved blue bags. We agreed on a price and agreed that I would send it international Express Mail with full insurance. He later emailed me asking if I could claim that it was only worth $80 and thus, only buy $80 of insurance. I of course replied no because I wanted to be covered in case anything went wrong. This all happened last Friday, and he paid via Paypal over the weekend so I shipped Monday. (It hasn't arrived yet).

On Wednesday I received a PayPal hold on the $1570 due to their new policies. They said they were investigating this transaction. I thought nothing of it, since it was not made by the buyer himself. Well, this morning I woke up and saw that there was a chargeback filed by my buyer! I tried to email him asking about it, but I got a message back saying:

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

Delivery to the following recipients failed.

The thing is, his confirmed paypal address is a Florida address, but he emailed me saying not to ship it there, as there would be no one to receive the package. Him and his wife are in the Philippines currently.

I don't know what to do..the thought of being out $1570 is making me sick to my stomach...what should I do?

Oh No this is reminding me of another thread I read about a scam in Phillipines, I will look for it. Please call Paypal asap and find out whats going on...

It sounds like the same situation. The buyer used stolen credit card from FL and requesting shipment to phillipines. Several members were also scammed this way a couple years ago.

Oh no!! The address is very similar to the one someone else got scammed at...the address that person sent to was:

xxxxxxxx. Sampaloc Manila

I'm going to try to get a hold and put a stop on the delivery

yes stop delivery if you can, get that bag back with you and if you resell please ONLY TO CONFIRMED ADDRESSES. Let us know I really hope you get it back ok.

I'm about to cry...I called USPS to stop the delivery and since it's left the US, they can't stop the delivery.. I don't know what to do

Same phone number even! Yes, definitely see if you can try to stop delivery. Let us know how it works out.

The address several members sent to a couple years ago was also similar (in the same area).

I can't stop the delivery cuz it's left the US already..I don't know what to do!! I can't afford to lose out on $1570 AND a bag...OMG I'm going insane!!

I was afraid of this

I think some other members also tried to stop delivery and even contacted the phillipines post office about holding delivery, but did not have much success.

Ok calm down and make tea. Have you considered police, maybe in US and /or Phillipines? I am not sure how it works there but strictly speaking there is fraudulent use of credit cards going on, someone must be able to stop delivery? Can any ladies in US advise as I am in Uk and you may have stricter rules,

If i was in Phillipines I would go and jolly well pick up the bag myself and send it back. How can the same thing keep happening in one place?

Make a report with http://www.ic3.gov/. The other member scammed also did this, maybe they will take it more seriously with more than one case.
