Default heads up sellers: 'BANK wire transfer' -not just 'wire transfer'

i listed a bag last night and woke up to find a message from the trust and safety department that my listing was cancelled. and what, you ask, was this awful thing that i did? what heinous act did i commit to impinge on the haven of trust and safety that is eBay?

i stated among payment methods that i accept wire transfers. after half an hour on hold to get a customer service rep, and then another half an hour while they worked it out with T&S, i was informed that the listing had to specify 'bank wire transfer' rather than just plain 'wire transfer.' i was not able to get any answer as to what other kinds there could possibly be, so my only guess is that eBay is afraid i am going to con my buyer into sending me spools of copper wire in payment.

and of course it was far more critical for T&S to attend to this problem than to pull the dozen counterfeit listings to which i alerted them yesterday.

anyway, thought y'all should know

DQ -

In "eBay speak", wire transfer could be interpreted as "western union wire transfer" which is not allowed by ebay.

But wouldn't it be nice if eBay could send you a message asking you to modify your listing rather than make it disappear?

ah, thanks LtL!

and could they be any more transparent? because i certainly don't see any safety difference between a wire transfer and western union. what i DO see is eBay making sure another payment service can't make money off them.

I'm sorry, but LOL! Yes, they are COMPLETELY transparent. I don't know who they think they are kidding. Just like them telling me (after being a member for 9 years with almost 2000 positive feedbacks) that I need to have a credit card on file in order to resume negotiations with a buyer on my BIN OBO listing. WHAT A JOKE. Luckily, I am selling to someone else OFF eBay and WITHOUT PAYPAL. So no FVFs or paypal percentages for them. They can suck it.

This is the second posting that I have seen today about eBay pulling legitimate listings! What is going on? I see and report fake LV on Ebay all the time and those listings have bidders. Ebay is going down hill! I need to jump off of Ebay's crazy train and find some other way to sell my LV!

I had an auction pulled because I listed "wire transfer or cash". It was an item that had to be picked up so I figured the buyer could pay cash if they wanted. Turns out the eBay police didn't like that. I called eBay to ask why they didn't just ask me to revise my auction. Their response was "well, we used to do that but sellers weren't revising their auctions even after several requests". What a hassle it was to put the auction back up because I wasn't able to just revise and relist since it was pulled and no longer accessible. I had to create the auction all over again.
