Default Having Problems With a Seller About Shipping
I purchased 3 wine glasses from a seller who in her listing had a shipping price listed of $19.25 for priority mail. In her listing the seller said to disregard the price for shipping, that she would send it the cheapest way possible, parcel post, first class mail etc and to wait for an invoice after the auction ends to pay. In her listing she said that she does not make money on shipping and she would only add $1.00 for handling. She also stated she would pay insurance.

The purchase price for the glasses was $29.99 and I received an invoice for the $19.25 shipping price. I sent the seller an email saying that in her listing she said she would send it the cheapest way possible. I told her I was ok with sending it parcel post as the glasses were for me and I was not in a hurry to receive them. After not hearing anything yesterday, I sent another email this morning and still have not heard anything. Apparently she does not want to work with me and send it parcel post.

I do not know how to handle this, the shipping seems high to me, even for priority mail, considering the seller lives in the United States about 7-8 hours away from me. I had assumed that the seller would work with me on the shipping, and I never would have purchased the glasses if I had to pay the $19.25. I could have purchased them from another seller for $30.00 with $10.95 shipping, but the feedback that this seller received seemed better.

I always pay immediately for my items and I do not like leaving this hanging. Am I obligated to pay the seller the $19.25 shipping, or should I contact ebay. If I do not complete the sale will this be held against me?

I know I probably should have contacted the seller prior to purchasing and determined a price for shipping. However, I thought she would send it parcel post or first class mail based on what she wrote in her listing.

^^ Give this seller some more time, maybe she needs to find all the correct shipping materials and box before she can weigh it and send the invoice with the exact (parcel post) cost.

I have shipped items to places 7-8 hours from me - weighing about 5lbs, and it only costs about $12 priority. is the box bulky? because USPS now charges more if the box exceeds a certain measurement. keep all your emails as proof in case she files a NPB case on you while you wait for your new invoice. You have a valid case against the seller because she stated in her listing itself about the shipping price.

I can't imagine three wineglasses weight more than 2lb....Is it really heavy ones? Hope your seller reply and explain the detail of the package.

I probably wouldn't trust that kind of disclaimer. If it states $20, I would've been prepared to pay that because "the cheapest way possible" is not a dollar amount, and not everyone delivers on those kind of promises. I would've definitely contacted the seller before buying the glasses to reach some sort of agreement and get invoiced for that amount. Did you know that First Class is for postcards, letters and envelopes that weigh 13 oz or less? So the options are Priority or Parcel.

Anyway, you should've heard by now, but maybe this is one of those sellers with crappy communication skills. If you don't get a reply tomorrow, you could contact eBay and see what they say.

If she double boxes it, it could end up coming in an oversized box. She should actually be eating any costs not listed in her listing.

If it had that price in her shipping amount, once you win a automatic invoice is sent to you,not by the seller but by ebay.So it has just defaluted to the original shipping price.I too would give her another day and send another note after that contact ebay .Agree she should not have said that if she was not going to honor it,and she should have emialed you back by now.I have learned the hard way MANY sellers are not good at communicating at all..
