Question Have there been fewer listings on eBay lately?

Has anyone else gotten the same feeling, or is it just me?

I like to browse for bags from slightly less-searched brands like Vanessa Bruno, Anna Corinna, etc. because you can actually find a bargain on them sometimes. But lately there has seemed to be very few new handbag listings on eBay.

I remember there was a strike against eBay by buyers and sellers a while ago, is one taking place right now that I do now know about? TIA for any info!

Blame it on their no-relisting policy and their unfair trading policies for sellers

I don't think that there's an organized strike going on. I do think though that the new feedback system that allows crazy bidders to screw over sellers has the most to do with it.

I remember a few months ago I would search things on eBay like "Chanel earrings" and get pages and pages of items. I noticed that there are significantly fewer items available.

There was supposed to be a strike July 4th, but usually listings and sales go down over holiday weekends. I search for newly listed Louis Vuitton every day, and can tell you last weekend there were 4400 listings and today there are less than 3400. Not sure if it's the holiday or what!

I think the majority of sellers are getting the 30 day no listing message. i have seen Gucci drop from around 9500 to 6300

It is summer. People don't buy during the summer. It is a buyers market for deals.

The new feedback policy DOES NOT allow buyers to screw sellers. Slight adjustments must be made, but lets not get off topic.

Here is a graph for June:

It seems like there are fewer items. but eBay always does slow down a bit in the summer.

Thank you ladies for the extremely helpful info! (and especially purse-and-boots for the graph)

I guess I am suffering some summer listing withdrawal, and am definitely looking forward to Fall (hope there will be lots more listings for me to browse and buy from)

I would say blame it on the new limitations e-bay is putting on sellers. I've sold and bought since 2001, 100% feedback, and was trying to list 3 or 4 bags today and got the 30 day limitation prompt, which means I cannot list any more bags for 30 days. From the related topic on this forum, I would say this is causing a widespread decline in listings.

I would agree with the 30 day listing policy...I just got hit with it today and I am waiting to see if they lift my restriction. I ussually have 50-60 items listed, I now only have 14 items listed.
