Just wondering is there any more auction site that is better than eBay and www.louislovers.com

Sounds like a cool start.
I work in IT aswell and do programming in MySQL (creating invoice templates etc.)
Im willing to pitch in where needed, specially in the beginning..

Now as for starters on advertising, once the site is lounged i would recommend putting it on wikipedia.org (i-net encyclopedia for everything and anything).

Here you can describe the foundation, unique features etc.. and best of all, it will come up with a lot of searches on the internet.

Second, i do think this has to be limited in the beginning( I.E. not every brand, in my opinion not the to hard to authenticate ones), limit the amount of brands.. and dont do accesoires until it has a bit more ground and you can actually stand behind his authenticating and making sure it doesnt get overloaded like E*bay atm...

TPF is a brilliant place to start and i would recommend talking to the founders and find out with a lawyer maybe to wether this "authenticating" thing is gonna protect you against issues like E*bay has gone through (majour law suites)..

It will take a lot of effort and time to authenticate members but it will be well worth it, the only thing needed is patience and decisiveness

O gosh i think i rambled on a bit haha, i need to think a bit more, i cant seem to get to what i want to say somehow.. :)

This is such a great idea. I am not selling any of my top designer authentic handbags on eBay at the moment, I am just feed up with Ebay. I would love a new site with sellers I could trust. I just hope this happens.

What a great idea! But could you explain what is 30 days rule on eBay? My buyer did not pay after 2 weeks of all sorts explaining then said she hasn't any money in the end! Then I tried to relist the bag says something about 30 days of rule!

Counterfeiters will thrive and honest people will sink.

If there was another site do you think people would use it? I know that places like iOffer exist, but they SUCK. I will outline my thoughts below. Read it, add to it, and be perfectly honest- would it work???

---------------------------------------------------
The site would ONLY sell handbags and accessory items.

It would be member moderated

Members would need to be Paypal verified, or sponsored by another member

There would be categories for the brands, members would authenticate items before listing.

The listings would buy it now or best offer format

There would be a flat listing fee of $25- scammers like to avoid ever paying, so collecting money up front would greatly reduce infiltration

Payments would be expected via paypal (for buyer/seller protection)- though a buyer could choose to waive this

------------------------

Just a rough idea, but I think that something like this would be great. Any ideas???
Thanks- Trisha

I don't know if putting membership fee's in the beginning is such a great idea because lets face it.... this site wont have much traffic until many people outside this site know about it....which takes time. No one will want to pay monthly fee's if their items aren't being purchased. I hate eBay too but they have the traffic we need to be successful and therefore get away with charging such insane rates.

I checked Ecrater and it's full of fakes. Etsy didn't have any in the brand I looked for.
Etsy is a site for selling handmade goods or supplies!
I personally love this site!
Unfortunately it won't help you sell your Chanel or LV!

I hope a site like www.louislovers.com opens up for all bags or www.louislovers.com expands. I like that they have a link to Caroldiva for authentications. I would much rather do that then send my bag to a warehouse to be authenticated. There are too many chances for the bag to get lost or get swapped out for a fake. Even Chanels have been lost by Chanel.

My other two cents is no Powersellers - everybody is equal.

I would love a site just to feed my obsession with LV, I got my eBay account suspended a while back for selling a fake inclusion ring that you guessed it was GENUINE!!!! they wanted me to sign some doc to say id not do it again!!!!.

Evilbay sucks.

Sites like this already exist....like the ones previously mentioned and www.Malleries.com. Malleries screens their vendors before letting them set up a shop at their website.

Also, as I said in another thread on this same topic, if you are building a site for profit, you can't expect the gals on tpf to do your authentication for free! It simply isn't fair at all.

I'm very interested to see what Vlad and Megs have coming....
