even though i infrequently sell my closet finds on eBay without problems, i'd be very interested in alternatives.

This sounds like a brilliant idea. There are certainly enough people here to make it a big enough selling power.

I am one of sellers who, just like you ladies, an honest seller with 100% feedback, was banned from listing authentic designer bags...very frustrated, however, although the idea of selling on different site is appealing, has anyone thought about how much time it will take to advertise this new site?? And how much money, too...Everybody know eBay, internationally, so you have guaranteed traffic. With new site, you have to spend thousands to get it up and running. Not a lot of people know Purse Forum, and as sad as it is, majority of our buyers don't come from tPF.

By the way, does anyone know what made eBay take this measure?
Or - has eBay answered any of your e-mails? I sent 2 so far without any response!

It's like, we make decisions, honey, you just keep paying our fees! We'll explain later (maybe). Hideous!!!

As for the watch list. I will think about it, perhaps a feature could be added to block your item from watch lists.

Like I said I post more Monday.
My input on this is that I think listing should never be free, except under special promo circumstances because people will always find ways to do biz outside the site and avoid paying you final fees, in effect getting away with selling the item with free advertising. Listings need to be charged - however do the math as on eBay users are basically being overcharged (the actual cost to ebay per listing is pennies on the dollar, if it is even that much).

Go for it...

on advertising... consider offering incentives to get people to post advertisements on their blogs or personal sites (offer a discount or a number of free listings per x number of referrals).

Just like Coachfreak, Cgsunbabe and anyone who have thought of an alternative to eBay, I've also thought of creating an auction like this.

Lovely4 has mentioned www.louislovers.com. I have an auction site ready for use with the same features as www.louislovers.com. If anyone is interested PM me.
I can give you a little tour of the site and the admin panel. You can customize the features however you want it. You can set prices for listing fees and more... Just needs a few tweakings. Domain is available.

Building a website is only one of the first steps. I have a full time job and school. So I'm not ready for this kind of thing yet.

This takes tons of time to do. I have tried but I don't even know where to start! Maybe we can all work together on this and each get piece done? As I had stated before i'm just really worried about getting sued!

Thankyou for answering my prayers! An alternative to EvilBAY is more than welcomed by me, and I'm sure by many others also. I look forward to hearing more about your ideas and plans for this exciting new venture.

This is a fabulous idea! I have been wanting to sell, but what I have seems to be the brands which are being limited by eBay, so I have put it off. Is there room for a seller who has never sold before, but has a buying record of 500+ at 100%? -or can you only sell, if you have sold on eBay?

I often authenticate on the BV sub-forum, and would be glad to help in that way. In addition, like gro, I spend time each day filing reports to eBay on counterfeits.

I will keep an eye on how this develops! Please let me know if there is a place for me and others like me.

Wow!! Great idea. I just read this whole thread. I think it is fantastic to have the items authenticated first. I would feel safer with spending if I knew the bags were 100% authentic. Also, it gives people other options. Which is a good thing. Let us know!!Also, I thought there was a market place here on the forum. How does that work?

I think that the concept is great, but I have one question: How are you going to "guarantee" authenticity?

I tried to private message you but it would not work. I would love to take you up on your offer. I have lots of details and would love an outside opinion. Please message me if you are interested in helping out.

Take care- Trisha

Maybe I must have missed it, but don't you want to rate the tpf members too? There should be like a feedback or rating for those who authenticate the items going to be posted for sale. I.E: A, B, C authenticates a Chanel bag. If the seller agrees with the outcome and has records to support it the outcome, then depending on the result the bag will either be posted or not. Successful posting on the site (not successful selling) will give the seller an opportunity to add positive feedback to A, B and C.

For the authenticator, there should be different levels set up (junior=new member, authenticator, senior authenticator). When junior authenticator receives certain number of feedback, they should be able to move up. Authenticators cannot authenticate their own items to be posted for sale. And there should be restriction on authenticators authenticate each other items. Confuse enough?

Just a point of view from a potential buyer... I need to be able to trust the authenticator.

I dislike eBay and paypal too. I rarely sell stuff on ebay, except for the time when dear husband forces me to clean out my closet... I recently found brand new Juicy couture, Coach bags, Prada shoes that I have bought a long time ago but never got around to wear them. It's like finding treasures Some of them I need to sell, but I don't want to deal with eBay and Paypal.

I'm in the IT industry and will be more than happy to help out. Please let me know if you guys need to reach out to me. Though I'm new, I'm not a part of eBay, have no ulterior motive other than researching for my next dream bag.

This sounds like a great idea and with all of the eBay woes I've been reading about I haven't been listing any of the bags or accessories I've been wanting to sell. I am testing the waters with iOffer though but will certainly follow this thread closely.
