If you're item is over $250 you need to send Express so you can get that signature. Customs numbers are trackable but as others have mentioned, they are not updated as frequently and quite honestly not always reliable becasue once it's out of the US it's out of USPS's hands as far as scanning goes. Some countries are better about it than others.

Be sure and declare full price buyer paid so you can insure for full amount, don't let them talk you into lying about the value on the customs form because you've got to protect yourself as well as your buyer if the item were to get lost or damaged.
