Default Feedback for poor communication seller?
Hi Everyone

I just wanted some help with leaving feedback which I know is very important for sellers - I only ever buy from ebay.

I recently purchased a wallet and although I am happy with it, there are a couple of things about the transaction that frustrated me. I have bought heaps of stuff off ebay so have had lots of different experiences.

Basically the seller was really bad at answering emails. When I bid for the item and won, they wanted me to pay through Google checkout instead of Paypal. When I emailed them about it, their response was very short and curt. I ended up going ahead with it.

I then received an email saying the item was on its way and I got the tracking details for USPS, but whenever I logged on to check the item's status, the only info I could get was when it left the USA.

After 14 days, I hadn't received the item and so contacted the seller (this was the only time I did it) to ask if they knew when it would be likely to arrive as I hadn't received it yet and the tracking details were unhelpful. I still haven't heard from them.

The item finally arrived yesterday (16 days which is the longest it's ever taken and I paid for "express shipping" - usually 7 days at the most from the USA).

So although I like the wallet, I am really annoyed at the seller's lack of communication and high shipping charges for an item that wasn't actually posted "express". What can I do when I leave feedback? Am I being picky??

Thanks for your help!
Julie

you can leave low DSR (stars system) for shipping and communication. This will bite them in the butt and they deserve it. Leave a positive, but mention poor communication and high shipping.

I probably wouldn't leave a negative - I would only do that with an item not as described that I was given the run-around for. It's up to you in the end though, and how disappointed you were overall with the transaction.

Having said that, it doesn't sound like it was a positive transaction either. You could always ding his stars on communication and shipping costs and leave him a neutral.

Good Morning! First of all your package could very well have been held up in customs. Second, USPS is known for having lousy online data. Sometimes they don't update until after the package is delivered. I am trying to say shipping, once it's left the sellers hands, is not the fault of the seller. That said, if you paid for express shipping and the seller pocketed part of that money, that is wrong. How much did the seller charge you for shipping? How much did she actually pay to USPS for shipping? Check the box your item was shipped in, the amount should be on the label. I don't think you are being "picky". You as the consumer have every right to get what you paid for, including shipping methods. Me personally, I would make sure that she spent the full amount before I left low dsr's. Ding her for communication.

Definitely ding her stars for communication and if she fibbed to you about the shipping method, ding that as well.
I feel like you owe it to future buyers to let them know that she doesn't communicate with her buyers.
Glad you got your item, even if it did take a long time.

How do you know they didn't ship the package Express and that it was not held up in Customs? If so, that is not your seller's fault. Is there an Express ticket on the outside of the package? Also, it really is not your seller's fault that USPS has a horrible web site as regards tracking packages. After all, your seller did provide you with a tracking number which is more than some sellers would do.

It sounds to me like your seller answered your questions (some people just say what needs to be said without being wordy and lengthy). They provided you with your tracking information. And unless they shipped via some other method than Express - it sounds like you're being picky.

Why would you punish a seller for something out of his/her control? I don't understand how you can punish a seller for a problem within the shipping service. He cannot pull out the Crystal ball to find out where your package was. It just is not going to happen.

What label was on the package? Express or something else?

Since the transaction was neither positive nor super negative, I would not leave any feedback at all.

^ But not leaving feedback doesn't help future buyers, KWIM?

Hey louch: I think you were lucky you got the item kuz paying with GC you had no PP buyer's protection, and next time it could be someone trying to scam you.

I would've had a problem with this transaction from the beginning, when after the buyer purchased the item the seller required she paid with GC. Right there it would've been over for me unless the seller let me pay with PP.

I hate it when buyers and sellers don't communicate. Unless they're lying on a hospital bed or their entire city has lost Internet access, there's no excuse. In terms of the shipping, I'm also wondering if the package was sent express but was held somewhere. If the label shows it was not mailed via express--for which you paid--then I would also have a problem with that.

All of this would add up to a less than positive experience for me, though I wouldn't give a negative if the item arrived and is as described. As suggested by others, I would leave a positive (or neutral, if that's how you feel) and ding the DSR rating for communication and shipping (if the package was not sent express).

Thanks for the feedback everyone - I totally don't want to leave negative feedback but didn't know how to approach it. I won't leave negative feedback but will leave less stars for communication. I agree it might not have been the seller's fault that the item was held up in Customs but as I mentioned, I've bought heaps of stuff from the USA and this is the longest it's ever taken.

Very much appreciated!!

Perhaps neutral feedback with an explanation

If seller did not ship the method you paid for, I'd make mention of it. All of these things help to honestly make other future bidders aware of what may be a seller who isn't as reliable as they were previously with other buyers.

I agree! It is so frustrating!

If I were you, leave neutral feedback (if that option still exists) and explain why.
