At the end of the day, it is the seller's responsibility to file her claim with the PO.

If she insure the package it was for a max of 500, anymore than that would have to be purchased at the PO.

Cheers,

but you said it was stamped 'recovery center' so the USPS had substantial proof that they mishandled it. I am sure that was why it was so easy for them to refund you. But throwing a $1000+ Express package in a drop box? sounds strange to me. And not insuring it for that much even. I don't get it.

Glad your issue worked out. At least that is less stress for you.

I don't think the Seller really shipped it.
Nobody pays $60 for Express and then drops under-insured in a drop box.
Express labels clearly print box & lines for postal employee initials & guaranteed time for delivery.

Was it $60 for shipping? I missed that post. Unless it was international, Express does NOT cost that much! For a $1000 item with insurance it would be under $35!

that is my feeling all along as well. it doesn't add up. a person with an eBay store sending it carelessly and under-insured. nope, doesn't seem right at all.

I'm not 100 percent 60 was the shipping. the PO lady said she paid a good chunk of change to overnight it so I assumed a 3lb bag would be 50-60. that's my fault, I dunno how much she paid, I didn't ask the PO worker. I dunno. So she's filing the claim today. She's 3 hours behind me so she's probably not even awake yet. I really think it was shipped, she WAS totally careless. I sent her an email about the 500 dollar thing. The bag itself cost me 1250. she paid for the shipping and stuff. I don't want to get nasty and file a dispute just yet. Let me give her a chance to answer the questions you girls brought up and I'll let you know what she said. She usually gets back to me in the mornings about an hour from now.

Oh yesterday when I asked her about filing the claim this was my reply:

"When we file the claim they hold all of the money till its found. If it is they release it and if they don't well then that is when it will fall under the seller protection and your refund would be put back in your paypal acct. :) "

that's all true right?

As a good seller, I would make a 100% refund to you until the bag is safe. Nothing is your fault here. She should pay you back and wait what happens. When you receive the bag (if you do) you pay her the price of the bag minus shipping.

She should at least have refunded the shipping cost. Thats my opinion.

candy, you're really being a little too nice at this point. file with paypal and eBay that you didn't receive the item and you will get all your money back. otherwise you may be strung along by this seller for a while, and then it'll be too late to make the claim.

i don't get why you are so quick to believe everything she is saying when she can't even show you proof of shipment. and she has your $1200 yet you have nothing.

you need to get a refund through paypal, and then the post office claim, etc is all her problem. if the bag turns up, then re-pay her for it. but you need to really look out for yourself at this point and not worry about being 'nasty' to her.

Regardless of what the seller says today you should file a dispute with Paypal, who will then in turn technically "hold" the money in a sort of escrow until you receive the bag. If you do not receive the bag, Paypal will release the funds to you, but at least this way you will be guaranteed that you get your money. That is, of course, assuming there are enough funds in the seller's account.

There are a whole lot of strange occurrences with this transaction. Think to yourself; if you were a seller, would you ship an expensive item (in this case $1,200) and only insure it for $500. I think NOT. Also, would you stuff an expensive bag in a mail box and not bring it inside for scanning. As an experienced selling, as this person seems to be because they have a store, they would know better that you need tracking and signature confirmation for any Paypal claims. Nothing sounds right about this. Even down to the free shipping. Maybe I am just being skeptical, but with all the scams on eBay these days, I would act now and laugh about it later if and when you get your bag. Just my 2 cents here, but I cannot stress it enough.

Just a thought that I cannot get past. You paid $1,200 for the bag. It was supposedly shipped and not received. Seller is willing to give you half back at this point ($600) until the bag arrives. Seller now has $600 of your money after refunding you half. Now the bag never arrives to you let's say. The seller then files a claim with the post office for $500, which is all they can claim by printing the label on line. They get their $500 from the post office and now they have $1,100 in cash and still have the bag. This scenerio makes the most sense to me seeing as NOBODY insures a 1,200 bag for 500 and does not bring the package in to be scanned. Sorry, but I just cannot get past this. You are being way too nice and accommodating here.

Nonono I ended up NOT asking them for half the money so she still has the full amount. I said I thought about doing that but never contacted them about that. She hasn't filed a claim yet, she's probably not even awake yet. Let me talk to her about all of this and I'll update you later this morning.

I sent her an email this morning I'm now waiting to hear what she says.

Ok, I did not know you did not accept the offer of half. Then the above is even worse. She has 1.200 of your money, most likely the bag (I sincerely hope I am wrong here), and will get $500 from the USPS. Wow, that would be some score.

I am waiting your response once you hear from her via email. I am hoping and praying for you here.

I'm not worried about not getting my money. You all seem to think if I file a dispute I WILL win because according to tracking my overnight mail never came. I am still waiting to hear from her but I will file a dispute if I have to and I REALLY don't want to. She's been so helpful and nice and has kept up with my emails and has been going to the PO daily pestering them about the status on the package. I dunno. =P

candy, you need to just file with paypal/eBay and stop talking with her i think. you are very swayed by the fact that she 'is nice' and yet you are potentially being scammed.

good luck!

well then if you trust her so much, then i guess you don't need our advice, but nearly everyone on here (buyers and sellers alike) thinks you need to file the claim. but if you want to go on trust, that's your choice.

i just hate to see what i think is yet another scam.

No I need your advice, please do not misunderstand. I just didn't want to jump to conclusions right away because I know the Post Office sucks ass and everything. Still waiting for a response. I think I may have to file a claim, tho I hate to do it. Maybe I'll tell her if I do not get the bag by Monday I will file a claim then. wish she would get back to me. Usually she's awake by now and replying to my emails. She may have slept in again.
