Thumbs down Ebay sponsoring fake sites???? what is going on???

Has anyone noticed the links on the bottom of each search page?? I feel like it is a recent addition. Anyway, normally, depending on your search they will list 3 links to various websites that sponser them to show people alternate ways to purchase these items...(dont know why???) Anyway, if you look up a designer bag, lately they have links to a site called eluxurycity.com that selll FAKE bags!!! WTF????? After the legal problems with LVHM and the crackdown on chanel bag you would think they would be more careful??? Its so odd!!! Has anyone else noticed this?

Sorry..here is the link to the site they have listed on the bottom of the page:
http://app.vendio.com/storefront?vie...2012741&mode=1

I did a search for CHANEL CHAIN.....type this in and see what you get...I got a picture of 3 modern chain looking totes selling for $229.99 from a company called eluxurycity!

I amazed that eBay would let this slip through the cracks....obviously there are a zillion fake bag sites....but sponsered by ebay??? its so odd!

Shouldn't this be in the eBay threads????

I know exactly what you're talking about!!!! I couldn't believe my eyes the other day when I typed in Louis vuitton suhali in the search and when the listings came up the bottom of the page had a link to shopping.com saying "louis vuitton suhali starting at 200$" so I obviously clicked on it and to my surprise it brought me directly to a replica site!!!! I really could not believe it, eBay is almost pushing the sales of fakes....yet limiting so many sellers right now....unbelievable.

oh sorry! Im new at posting...if it should be then I guess someone will move it??? Yeah, I cant believe it! How can they be so against people listing replica bags and yet send the buyer directly to one of these illegal sites??? It makes no sense!

It's all about money with eBay. If it wasn't going to get them sued (again) do you really think ebay would ban fakes? Doubt it.

It's not illegal for them to advertise a fake bag site. It's only advertisement. Sadly.

Here is my opinion about the eBay of today: It is not the ebay of yesterday. Ebay is off the risky meter and anyone has to take their chances more than when they first started because of the plethora of scammers out there. It used to be fun when it was a new tool for buying and selling, but now it is just another convenient avenue for evil scammers which makes it so hard for the people who really are honest to sell or buy anything. I don't even look at ebay anymore.

I posted about this a few weeks ago QueenCoco. It's very weird, especially as eBay received a massive fine for allowing fakes on their site. Only the other day I reported a fake Balenciaga Lune Bag. I also suspected another bbag, this time a teal City. I mailed the seller asking is the bag was authentic. I received no reply. Next time I looked the bag had been purchased. I think eBay has no real intention of policing fakes. Maybe not enough eBay UK members report suspected fakes, so sellers get away with their deceptions. I am now very afraid to buy any bags on eBay, although I know there are some lovely, reputable sellers. It's such a pity.

You are right about this. A few years ago I loved to trawl eBay for household items when we were renovating our house. But so far as bags are concerned you take your life (and money) in your hands. I'm more likely to buy bags from reputable stores now.

Sorry, I should have done a search before I posted....I was just so furious I had to vent!!! I posted some REAL sunglasses that I purchased at solstice for over $250 a few years ago last week and they were removed???? Its like the scammers are aloud to sell HORRIBLE fake bags but when an honest person tries to sell something they get shut down if they dont have enough feedback. I am not a seller. I simply like to sell off peices every now and then to feed my habit for more but I cant even do that because my auction gets ended. I used to love eBay when it was new too. I would sit and watch auctions for hours back in 2001-2002...not it is just a negitive venue that makes me sick to my stomach. Very sad.....

Right, but being that it is connected to ebays search as well you would think they would do a better job of monitering what sites are given recognition on their site as it is a reflection on them as well.....And imagine the business this site now gets because of this link from eBay from buyers who are looking for a cheap knockoff????

^^i kind of understand the points, but i just dont see it as a huge deal. 1stly its not connected to eBay's search necessarily. its connected to the content on the page and that is found by google's web crawlers. it is, however, ebay that allows google's ads on their website. ebay could block certain sites from their content network i suppose, but to me, it just seems like a lot of work on their part with no payoff whatsoever. the people that shouldnt be allowed to buy these keywords are the ones selling fakes, and thats a google issue. i think the anger is directed towards the wrong companies in this case

I would assume that even if this is a google issue eBay could be held liable and it seems odd since they spend so much money on security and vero issues that they wouldnt police the links as well....doesnt seem like it would be too much more work for them if they are really that serious about cracking down on the fakes!

Yeah, as much as we'd like to blame eBay for those too, it is actually Google. They pop up on tPF occasionally too and I think Megs and Vlad have to get them removed.
