And how can someone run that kind of operation from their home, raise twins, and occasionally practice medicine??? As someone who does sell on Ebay, it is a lot of work, and I can't even imagine doing it with infant twins/toddlers, etc., managing a household, and dabbling in my medical practice. Give me a F***ing break!
LOL, did you not read the article?- because she is driven, intelligent & a fast learner ...

Ellie Mae, she is a family practitioner in maybe rural area? I know surgeons/specialists are very different vs. primary care physicians..

I, too, suspect the $120k is her gross. But when you're getting some of your stock for free...

She sells VS on at least one ID.
She's got this kind of ethics and she is a doctor???????

Hiawatha is small... just a "suburb", so to speak. Population of Hiawatha around 7000.. but only 4 miles from Cedar Rapids, population 120K. And many other small "suburbs" nearby. Her family practice is in Cedar Rapids. I personally would expect a successful family medical practice in a city of that population to be capable of 120K a year. But perhaps her medical practice is not her primary focus, or w/ twins, only a part-time endeavor.
Who knows. Or cares. I have to agree w/ Lovelygarments that it's a fluff-piece... possibly at Ebay's request to promote EBAY.

Here's the 'dirt' on her -

She bought a Christmas sweater for $5.
A month later, she negs the seller, stating that the sweater was not as described.
Then someone found the sweater relisted under another ID, as an 'ugly Christmas sweater', for $49.95. It had not sold, and there was no mention in this ugly Christmas sweater ad of any of the buyer's concerns regarding the sweater not being as described. Apparently, she does this alot.

Lots and lots of dots were connected; there were multiple IDs found, and lots of research turned up, about 5 or 6 IDs, both buying and selling.

She buys Lucky bags on Ebay and resells them marked up.

She buys Christmas and theme sweaters cheap and marks them up as 'ugly Christmas sweaters'.

She sells VS that she buys as overstock or what have you from VS.

She has/had multiple listing violations including saying she would take MO/cash, saying that she will ship in'tl but won't take intl PP, etc.

CNN has been running a lot of articles on healthcare/reform in general and how doctors are all fed up with insurance companies/malpractice management dictating how they practice medicine. But this article totally missed the point and backfired in different direction. Very irresponsible journalism.

wow. Makes it sound so easy and all of the shipping she would have to do for that much merchandise would be overwjelming!

I have jennilicious!! (and a couple of others that are probable).

Her photobucket URLs have also been found in listings for fake Chanel shoes and fake Ed Hardy shirts on various Craigslists.

Editing to clarify that I don't know Ed Hardy at all personally, I am repeating what was said (which can be dangerous).

Nothing wrong with buying and reselling on ebay...we all have done it. But
to make false accusations for free loot is despicable. And I am thinking that
Victoria's Secret stuff she sells may be fake. How can you purchase this from
a wholesaler? And a lot of her feedback states the fit is different.

I got the info from the ebay Clothing boards. I just posted a synopsis of what they have noted there. There are a few threads there about this seller.
I think CNN had the right idea, it's just too bad that they chose this seller to feature. There are many successful and honest ebayers out there and it would have been nice if their fact-checking dept. had done their job and uncovered the 'dirt' so to speak before they went to press. I would have really enjoyed reading a true success story instead of a story that was full of holes and upon doing a bit of digging, discovered that the seller treats fellow ebayers so terribly.

Yeah, it said "earned" which means profit not revenue (and even at revenue it probably wouldn't be true). That's part of the reason I said the reporter didn't do diddily-squat but basically just wrote down what she said. He didn't even look at her feedback, for Xst sake, at the transactions, nothing. He's probably never even visited the website...

Puff, puffy, puff, puff....

Our handbags are a separate biz over and above that. The clothing is quite successful and profitable but even our best year has never produced a profit anywhere near $120k, let alone running a business in my 'spare' time while my twins nap. Perhaps her gross sales are $120k per year, but that's a far cry from net profit. Typical net profit margins in retail are net 30 or less. Based on that, perhaps a much more realistic 'profit' that this woman is making is closer to $30-36,000 annually.

On the other hand...since I am driven, intelligent and a fast learner, it's good to know that I could have been a doctor.
Good post. You are driven, intelligent and a fast learner doctor!
