Default Changing a listing to BIN for someone - I've never done it and don't knwo how

I've always let my auctions run their course, I love to see what they will go for, so never had an interest in a BIN. However, I had a request to end my auction early with a BIN. We're in the same city, so letting her do that sounds appealing to me. Once we agree upon a price.

Is it possible to add a BIN option to my listing and have only this potential buyer see it? I have a number of watchers and don't want anyone else to grab it before she gets a chance to click.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

Revise your listing if it just started. You can cancel bids so there are not any and then add it. You can also end the listing and restart it with the BIN...

she could put in a bid to become the highest bidder, you can then close the auction to sell to highest bidder and adjust the paypal invoice ( if i remember correctly )

That is true but you could run into issues down the line if there are problems with the transaction. Like if you sell for $50 and then adjust the item to $200 .... what is the coverage with Paypal??? That is my only reluctance to doing a price adjustment...KWIM? How does the protection for the purchase work? Also won't eBay see that as ducking fees???

There are no bids, I just wanted to add a BIN that only one person can see - kind of like for a pre-approved bidder.

I could swear someone did that for me once, when I was buying a bag... she added a BIN just for me.

What have the rest of you done to end an auction early for someone? What other options do I have?

You can just arrange to be online at the same time if possible. SHe could be ready as soon as it updates.

Jayne, when you go into the listing to revise, change your title to "PRIVATE AUCTION - PLEASE DO NOT BID." Then make sure your buyer has the auction number. The item will probably not be available in searches for a little while, but she can find it with the number (or in her Watch List) and do the BIN.

If you are NOT able to revise the listing, you can have her bid the agreed upon amount. Since it probably will not go up to the actual amount, you will need to let her pay whatever it goes to plus shipping on the auction itself. Then you will need her email address to invoice her for the difference through PayPal. Once both invoices are paid, close the auction to sell to the high bidder.

In the event of a dispute, each of you still have PayPal coverage. Be sure to mark the P/P invoice as "Goods" and in the note section, put the Auction Number. Also, if you print your shipping label in P/P, print it for the larger amount and in the actual auction, mark the item as shipped. I have done this numerous times with no problem.

Here's a recent example of how I got a BIN: I was the high bidder for an item that didn't reach the seller's reserve. I contacted the seller right after the auction to ask if she would tell me her reserve as I really wanted the item. She emailed back telling me the price she would accept and asked if I still wanted it. I said I did, so she immediately relisted at the agreeed on price using BIN. I bid right away and we were both happy.

Here is the mystery part: A few days AFTER THE ITEM WAS PAID FOR, SHIPPED AND RECIEVED AND POSTIVE FEEDBACK HAD BEEN LEFT BY BOTH PARTIES, eBay sent me a big "LOSS PREVENTION ALERT" urging me not to continue with the transaction and, if I have already paid, telling me ways to stop payment, etc. I phoned Ebay and spoke to a "real person". I told her that the transaction had been flawless and I was satisfied and defended the seller. When I asked what prompted the warning she said, "Sometimes it can be a small thing - like a seller not paying a fee". Now I see that the seller is NARU.

Probably just late paying her seller fees. Money-hungry eBay would NARU someone in a flash for that. Many sellers have a credit card on file with eBay so that seller fees come out automatically. If you forget which card, and charge too much during the month so that eBay's fees are denied, you are in very hot water with eBay. That is why I either pay as each item is sold, or pay on the last day of each month in a one-time payment. That way, I choose how I pay, whether from PayPal balance, bank account, credit card or whatever. And the one absolutely wonderful thing about the restrictions is that eBay is NOT getting my usual $450 and up per month. Hurray!
