Am l missing something here???

l have returned things to seller that have "no return policy".
l dont even look to be honest, if its not what is says on the can, l mail the seller, and return!!!!

l thought you had to take returns, or is that only if you go through a SNAD.

Or have l just been very lucky will my sellers????

Please someone explain

From my experience selling Balenciaga bags and others...I have never had one returned. I have always had great buyers, and repeat ones.
In my auctions the terms are clear. No refunds...I ask that potential buyers ask all questions about the bag, and request as many pictures as they may need to feel comfortable before they buy, plus I also remind them to check my terms as the seller.
I have never had any problems.
If I buy a bag, and its not quite what I expected, I will resell it.
I guess I am lucky when it comes to buyers.

OP I hope it works out for you. It does sound like buyers remorse, I would fight it all the way....you know your bags!
keep us posted!

I REALLY was not trying to be rude to Chloehandbags. I appreciate, as I'm sure others do, that she is an asset to this site. My point was that, IMHO, she appears condescending to me and some of the other posters on this thread. I really don't want to take this any further. It is not accomplishing a thing and my only motive was to get opinions on my current situation.

I do still stand behind my right not to accept this bag as a return. I have always been upfront and in some ways overly descriptive about any bag I've sold for the simple fact that I don't take returns. I know that my policy is going to rule out some potential Buyers and that is fine. I've never had a bag not sell. I have purchased many things on Ebay, many with a no return policy, and I have never had a problem. I tend to look at feedback as the most important source of information when making that determination. Yes, maybe I haven't been thrilled with a few things but not because they were defective. I respect the Seller's no return policy and if something isn't to my liking, I can keep it or resell.

Quite honestly, I don't know what will happen in this situation. I have yet to hear from her again but I am prepared for whatever happens. I did speak to the original Seller and she assured me that the bag had never been re-dyed and she had purchased it directly from NM. I completely, 100% trust her. So, we shall see what today brings

I really don't think Chloe was being rude- I've seen many posts from her and she is always trying to help. She was trying to express her opinion here why return policy could be helpful. To be honest with you (and I sell too), ebay rules override any rules you might have on your listing. I see many sellers that state "not responsible for lost mails if you don't purchase insurance"- which is not true, all sellers ARE responsible for delivery of the package whether buyer has purchased insurance or not. And I see some sellers state "payments are due within 24 hours after the auction ends"- but the fact is buyers have 7 days to pay. I state that I don't accept returns, but the fact is if my buyers were unsatisfied for some reason and want to return the item I would accept it, but then again that's just me personally. So I wish you the best and hope you won't hear back from this buyer again.

ITA. Also, internet sales are governed by the Federal Trade Commission. It's just not PayPal and eBay's rules.

I'm with you Pigalle, I also state no returns. My thinking is it may discourage serial returners, but most of my buyers are very nice, and I would accept a return if asked.

I agree. I like Chloe's posts here and elsewhere. She is often analyzing the whole picture and it helps -- for me, anyway. Ebay does seem to override anyone's auction "do and don'ts" these days. Whatever you say is meaningless if it does not jibe with ebay's official policies.

That is great news, so l would take it all the way then. As you said it is the principle of the matter. There is nothing wrong with the bag.
Good Luck

You are taking a stand with regard to how you do business.

It is a tough situation to be in.. this buyer sounds a bit odd and her reason

to return the bag just doesn't sit right either.

Stick to your guns and keep us posted

Well, a day has gone by and I still received no phone call back or anything from the Buyer. Why do I have this feeling that the bag is on it's way back to me?

Oh, and thanks for all of your comments and opinions. I REALLY do appreciate them!!

It is possible that it is. Are you going to refuse the package?

Hey jlarnold. I can totally relate to your frustration because I think it sucks that Big Brother PayFoe or fBay get to decide whether a seller can or cannot enforce his/her return policy. Why encourage us to have a return policy if it's meaningless? And it probably would be enforceable if it were not for the scammers that make decent, honest buying and selling such a challenge on the bay and other websites.

Right now it's impossible to know what the buyer is up to. Maybe she's given up on her plan to return the bag. Maybe she's busy with something else and put this on the back burner knowing she has weeks to file a claim. Maybe she's planning to show it to an SA somewhere to get confirmation on her claim, or she's about to file a SNAD and is pondering what reason she'll give to ensure she wins. Who knows. At the moment, there isn't much you can do, so I would try not to worry for now and put the issue aside until you hear from her, PP, or until you get the bag in the mail.

I think the whole thing is very strange and I had predicted problems with her from the beginning. No communication from her is really bugging me but there isn't much I can do about it. The fact that she has 45 days to use the bag and then file a claim doesn't make sense to me either. I'm feeling pretty confident that the bag is on it's way back to me but isn't that pretty risky on her part, if that's the case?
Wouldn't you file with PP first and let them instruct you on the proper procedure? Regardless, the office here at my building is not going to sign for it.
