^ Thanks KZ.

I did see your post, but how can one be 100% sure one hasn't made a mistake, until one gets the item back and can check it against the listing (unless one has more than one of them and even then, there may be variations)?

Since this is not the place to get into a philosophical debate about "right" and "wrong" I'll just say that when I list a bag I measure it up and down at least three times before I type the numbers in the description and submit that listing. So I can be 100% sure that the measurements are right. But I can only speak for myself.

And to the OP, it is neither "right" or "wrong" to stand your ground rather than give in to the request for the return. The pros and cons of both approaches have been well documented here. Keep us posted as to whether or not there are any further ramifications on this.

Some buyers are so annoying. Expecially making you feel guilty like you did something wrong. It is her responsibility as a buyer to check the measurements to make sure it will fit. Buying clothing on the Internet is always risky. You take the chance for a good deal. She could always relist it herself. Maybe she can "justify [her] behavior" but there are always two sides of a coin. I'm highly annoyed by people that think they are always right. I like to look at things from different points of view. I would just sell it myself if it didn't fit.

However, Paypal and Ebay as said before are the "buyer's world." Most likely she will win (and it takes forever for a case) and then she will leave you negative feedback and because eBay's ridiculous policies you will not be allowed to leave her negative feedback. Unfortunately, I might have considered just giving her money back, but since I have 300 positive feedbacks and getting sick of eBay and their lame policies I'm starting to feel fisty with these types of people.

Thanks for that

I was thinking of refunding her just to get her off my back and out of my head but then she took an attitude I didn't deserve.

And I am certain the the dress isn't as small as she is saying as there is no way I could have fit it if it were. I always double check measurements when I take them, but this buyer ignores me every time I refer to them.

I don't feel like I should be bullied into submission now matter how much of a 'waste of time' she claims me to be.

I really liked "fisty". It conveyed exactly the same message.

Yes, you're right, I was feeling kind of philisophical earlier!

Wish I had your level of self belief, karmenz!

I could measure a bag 1,000 times and still not be 100% sure I'd got it absolutely right - even though I, almost certainly, would have after two, or three times, too (to be fair to myself, I've had no complaints on the basis of dimensions being incorrect [or any other basis, actually!], when I've sold things in the past).

But, that small drop of self-doubt will always remain!

It is with great trepidation that I would jump into a debate between karmen and chloehandbags because they are both so darn.....good. Measurements work well in lumber but I do find measurements on soft items such as dresses and handbags are just a guideline and do not guarantee precision. I have seen two bags with virtually the same measurements that have very different carrying capacities. I'm sure the same is true with dresses. JMHO.

LOL! I'd love to know what you were tempted to say, before you censored yourself and just said 'good', nd?!

This is so true.

Perhaps even more so with dresses? As they can have very different amounts of give/stretch, can't they?

LOL @ "faulty sizing". Er, that's just Cue! Nothing to do with the seller misleading anyone or providing incorrect measurements etc. I find the buyer's approach quite bewildering and bizarre to say the least. OP I hope you sort this out with eBay in your favour

Please! She needs to get over it. If she wanted to make sure it fits, she should have paid a higher price in the store and tried it on. I am usually a buyer than seller on ebay, and have bought a few items that don't fit, and I never blame the seller. I blame myself for buying something on ebay without trying it on, even though I know I typically wear a certain size in a certain designer. So, I either try to sell it on ebay, or give it away. Who are these buyers? What are they thinking, that ebay is Macys?!

Yes and Ebay is backing them up and letting them return for pretty much ANY reason.

^^ so true.

In the messages the buyer has sent, she didn't say your measurement was wrong (did she?). If you decide to accept the return, please stand firm that you are doing favor for her and refund only the price of the dress,

Luckily, I haven't had any dispute over clothing I sold. I'm not sure if it's helping or not but in description, I encourage buyers to compare the measurement with their own dress (any clothing) has similar cut." right under measurement. Because I sell clothing have Euro sizes and many of them are cut narrower than equivalent American standard sizes.
