Hi, I need some advice. I sold this bag on Bonanzle.
xxx you cannot post your own auctions or ID here. I left the buyer a positive feedback, but right away she asked all kinds of questions about the history of the bag, etc. We were emailing each other, then just now, she made a claim on Paypal about the item being fake. Here's what she said to PP " Due to not being able to confirm Louis Vuitton handbag is authentic, I wish to return for a refund. I am not claiming bag is not authentic, but verbal authentication from seller is not proof enough for me. Seller has been very cordial, and shipped in a timely fashion. Thank you." I know that the bag is authentic and I offered to have caroldiva authenticate it if she's still not convince. But she seems to be so hard in believing that it's fake and wanted me to just refund. I feel there should be some outside verification because her issue will affect my reputation. Please help me with any suggestion. Would PP force me to refund even though it's authentic? I realized now, after comparing IDs that the buyer is a seller on Ebay, with mostly just one picture of item on listing. While I feel I did everything to make any potential buyer see if my item is authentic by providing many detailed pictures. Any helpful thoughts and suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you! |

Where did you buy it? Doesn't PP only cover INR on sites other than EBay?

Your buyer can't force Paypal to refund because, as mentioned, non-eBay transactions are only covered through Paypal if the item is not received. They could do a chargeback though.
Did your listing specify your refund policy? If so, I would kindly reiterate it (assuming you stated no refunds in it, mind!) and offer to get someone like Carol to authenticate it, or direct her to the LV Authentication thread. Good luck! |

It could be buyer's remorse, too... I suppose you'll find out if you ask her to authenticate the bag and see what happens from there. Keep us posted - I hope everything works out for you!

I agree, buyers remorse. The bag is authentic and her wording about saying that your word isn't enough makes it clear that she is just rethinking. I would refer her to authentication services or tPF AT thread.
She has no recourse as others said. I think she just feels like she paid too much. |

If you have any $$$ sitting in your PP account, GET IT OUT.

Good A.M everyone!
First, I apologize for posting my own auction link and not reading the rules first. An update from the buyer - she emailed again: "Thank you for prompt response, and yes I understand your message. However, I wish to return this handbag for a refund. Due to the cost of this handbag, I feel that I need more than a verbal guarantee. You have been very cordial, and I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. I have requested a refund through Paypal. Please verify return instructions and I can ship back immediately so you can relist. I appreciate your understanding." I replied that I'll prove my case to PP since she already filed there and that I won't be communicating with her anymore through email but only through PP. I feel that she can just ask nicely about wanting to return the bag because she "paid too much," instead of using SNAD/fake. Because I made an effort to post as much detailed pictures as possible in order to tell that the bag is authentic in my listing. I feel she can also show some responsibility since she's a seller on Ebay herself. So I'll be contacting Caroldiva for authentication. But I wonder if PP will deny her request for a refund if Caroldiva said that the bag is authentic and wont take the fund from my account. Thank you guys for all your inputs and have a great day! |

Like others mentioned, I don't think Paypal will do anything about it. Right now, you two are just "chatting" via Paypal. If she escalates, it will be automatically closed because it wasn't an eBay transaction.
That won't stop her from attempting to do a CC chargeback though. |

Pay Pal does not cover items for INAD for any purchases outside of Ebay. Buyer is SOL on the refund. Pay Pal will do NOTHING.
As Amor stated above, your purse is authentic and the buyer got a great deal. Buyer is an idiot. |

You know, paypal won't cover her but there is one more thing you'd need to worry about (which I won't mention). It def sounds like a buyer's remorse- why won't she get it authenticated here? Good luck, op!

^ Agree. If she's concerned about authenticity, why no post the pictures here on the AT thread? Or you could post them and then sent her the link showing the bag was authenticated here.
The buyer should've brought up her doubts be-freakin-fore buying the bag, and if "verbal authentication from the seller" isn't enough for her, why did she buy the bag? To be fair, if there's a chance, however minor, that the bag could be fake, you could post it on the AT thread yourself. There's no need to pay CarolDiva or anyone else for anything. As per PP's own T&Cs, it doesn't make rulings in SNAD disputes outside eBay, yet I would make sure I have a zero balance in the PP account...just in case.
