is in a sealed box.
Hello,

I hope you are able to help me out with a predicament that I'm having:
I recently sold a pair of designer heels and the buyer is requesting that I request money from two email addresses (the cost of the item is split in half between the two accounts). Their ebay account has 100% positive feedback of 192 transactions.

Brief example:
username@email.com - $400.00
username@business.com - $400.00

The reason why they are doing this is because she's using her paypal account and her husband's account to pay for the shoes? Is this bringing up red flags for anyone? I'm never done this before because usually buyers just pay the full amount immediately with their OWN paypal accounts.

Has anyone done this before successfully?
Or should I proceed with caution and request that she pay with the original account that's linked with the ebay account?

Or should comply to her request and request payment from both accounts BUT ONLY ship to the registered address listed on paypal/ebay?
I've also scoped out the residential address via google maps and it seems to be in an upscale neighborhood in San Jose.

Let me know what you think...

If the address is the same on both PP accounts I donīt see why you couldnīt do it? She might forfeit her buyer protection by not making ONE single payment. I am sure others with more experience will chime in.

Agree here... in the past I have split up payments using 2 different credit cards

her buyer protection is not the same, but as long as you are shipping to confirmed

addresses, you shouldn't have a problem...

The problem is she'll have to ship 2 packages to be certain (one shoe in each?)

Otherwise, there's a possibility that one "buyer" could say they never got their package. So she'd need 2 shipping notices and 2 confirmations w/signature to make sure she doesn't give up HER protection.

I'd ask your buyer to transfer funds from one PayPal account to the other and just use one invoice - that way you're preserving protection for /both/ of you.

Yes, I think youīre right. Itīs two different accounts NOT two different payments from the same account. That is probably very different. I wonder if this is an attempt to scam?

I agree, the buyer should just transfer the funds to one account and then pay you.

It might have be due to restrictions in the buyers's country. Recently the rules for PayPal changed in Japan and I can't send money from one of my accounts to the other. Our PayPal site is covered in warning messages that it is not OK to transfer money between accounts and that doing so can get your account suspended. It's a hassle for sure. That kind of thing could be behind the buyers request.

And if that's the case, then her husband should remove the funds from his account and she can add them to her account (via bank transfer, etc.)

That has to be possible. I would never split a payment between 2 separate accounts, it's just too risky.

You lose your seller protection. Not worth it.
