Default buyer has soooo much positive feedback but won't respond to me?
i'm a brand-new ebay seller so i apologize in advance if i'm being silly!

i listed a pair of Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses on ebay and a buyer with 224 100% positive feedback won the item. that's pretty amazing to me, to have 224 sellers claim that you were perfect.

anyhow, i immediately message him just to remind him that because he is in the united kingdom, he has to pay the international shipping fee as indicated on my item page.

no response.

today i messaged him again with an invoice. the weird thing, in the past TWO days, he's gotten three more 100% positive feedback comments saying that he's paid instantly.

i don't know why, but i'm just getting the feeling that something fishy is going on? i haven't gotten a response from him, but by looking at his buyer details, i think he literally lives on ebay and bids on items all day long. which means he's clearly getting my messages. and the last few items he's bought are ALL sunglasses! but for much less that what he bid for on mine. i wonder if it's buyer's remorse.

Hmm...hard to say. He might be busy with the other transactions and has yours waiting in line, somewhere. You've already sent a couple of emails/invoices, so all you can do now is wait. If nothing happens after seven days, I would file a NPB, get my fees back and move on.

Yup, no need for further messages.

You can actually begin the Unpaid Item Process 4 days after auction close now. eBay has changed the process as of last week.

Really? I missed that! Thanks for posting this info, luvtami; it's good news. I see that it states 4 days in one Help page (under Unpaid Item Policy), but it still states 7 days in another page (in Seller section). No wonder people get so confused over there...

^^ The last thing I'd ever expect from eBay is consistency and clear policies -- so no surprises there! :)

I believe the new system works as follows:

1) Seller is allowed to begin UPI process 4 days after auction close.

2) Buyer must respond within 3 days by either completing payment or negotiating with the seller for a new payment date/canceling the transaction.

This is actually one of the best changes I've seen eBay make, the old 7 day to start UPI and 7 days before it could be closed (assuming no-response) was ridiculously long.

I would not do that , as what if the second chance offer accepts, then this person also pays .Now both can leave you a neg and turn you in for not selling them the item.Just be patient. All buyers know they have the certain number of days to pay and some take their sweet time .I know it is frustrating however really nothing you can do.Just sit back and if worse comes to worse file the NPB ,wait until it is closed relist or offer to second highest bidder then..great luck!!

OP, just be patient and see what happens in the 4 day time frame. Whatever happens, keep us informed.

you guys are right. i'm overreacting. i think i just got a little nervous when i saw that he was bidding on other items and paying immediately....so i thought it was weird that he hadn't paid for mine.

i will be patient!

Also, positive feedback is meaningless when it pertains to buyers. Alot of sellers leave positive feedback that has been pre written by ebay. They leave the feedback because they want feedback left for them. Sellers can't give buyers negative feedback.
