Default Are ebay sales slowing down or is it just me??!!!

I put up a New without tags Jenny Yuen Sherlock bag in Almond (mind you that this color is rare now and is no longer in production) on eBay for 10 days and despite the fact I had 5 watchers, there were no (zip, nill, nothing!) bidders in the end! I am so frustrated because I've been trying to sell this bag so I can get a macbook.

Do you guys think it's maybe because Jenny Yuen isn't that well known to the eBay world? Or is it just this whole recession kicking in? Or is it just me????

i'd say it's the fact that jenny yuen isn't all that known outside of.. well... i can't say i'd heard of her before i stepped into luna boston for the first time, which wasn't that long ago. i haven't seen her stuff besides that time.. i'm sorry!

it's a cute bag, though! i'm hoping to get one of the newer ones with a shoulder strap sometime.

It may be that the brand isn't as well known, or it may be this time of year. From what I understand, the summer months aren't as busy on eBay. They've also had some recent feedback changes that many sellers don't like--I don't know if this has an impact or not.

Good luck!

I think things are just slow...I have a Hayden Harnett for sale on eBay that is basically new...I only carried for a week or so that retails for $550. I have it listed with a BIN price of $299.00 w/ free express shipping, 28 watchers and no buyers! I think it maybe a combination of the economy and all of the sales one can find thru the retailers themselves. Who knows??

I have noticed it, but I think it's because people are tying to get their money back on bags they bought when they first came out, and you can now get a lot of them for way less brand new on sale from stores. I have seen that with gryson, which I watch on eBay - people asking $550, when you can get for $399 online, and no doubts about authenticity.

Yes, it's slow right now. Last summer I made a LOT of money on eBay by basically cleaning out my closet, and right now those same types of bags are going for low bids and "or best offer." I'm hanging on to what I still have until people start spending money on luxury again. Right now it seems everyone's just trying to stay afloat with the basics and not buying much that isn't completely necessary.

I think alot has to do with the current economic situation. Lots of people selling off high ticket tangibles for some extra cash, but with no luck. Recently there was an article about craigslist being flooded with designer bags for sale.

I must be bidding on the 'right' bags because I have lost out on a couple recently, and I thought I was bidding pretty high.

I agree people are waiting for sales because some bags on eBay are cheaper on-line now. It hurts to get burned.

I agree. I've listed bags and not got nearly what I paid for them and after watching some listings, I've decided not to sell anymore right now. It's not worth what you get, I think it's the recession.

I think eBay is slow right now, plus all the online sales that were on. May I ask why this is in your auction? Tags: Rebecca Minkoff, Botkier, Gustto, Bulga, MJ Marc Jacobs

the reason for that is because i know Jenny Yuen isn't a popular search and usually when i look for stuff on eBay, i click the box underneath the search bar that looks for key words in the auction itself. therefore, my thinking was that if someone did a search for a couple of other handbags priced within the range of Jenny Yuen, they might see my auction and be inclined to click on it. besides that reason, there was no other reason or those tags...

^Unfortunately that's against eBay rules if you have all those names in your auction. It's considered keyword spamming and can get your auction pulled.

As for sales, mine are slow too, I have 6 auctions up for various books and dvds (i.e. a full season of a certain tv show on dvd for $6.99) and only one has ONE watcher...the rest have zero bids and zero watchers.

Don't do that. eBay will remove your auction, our fellow tPFer ever encountered the similiar thing.
