Anyone else tried to get a paypal debit card lately?

Paypal is making it even harder to access my money! I have had a paypal account for over a year now, verified, confirmed, never had any issues with it. Normally the money I have in there I just use to fund new eBay purchases, on a couple occasions I have transferred money from paypal over to my bank account but that takes 3-4 days and if there is a weekend thrown in there it takes even longer. Well I kept getting prompted to apply for the paypal debit card so last week I thought I might as well since there might be an occasion when I needed to access the money in there quickly. So I applied, today I get a notice that says "sorry we are unable to approve your application at this time, please feel free to reapply in 30 days" !!! Thats it, no explanation or anything. There is absolutely NO reason not to issue me a debit card to access my own money! It just allows paypal to hang on to my money longer I guess. I have not sold anything really pricey since they enacted there 21 day hold policy and I have never had my funds held that way so I guess this is how they are gonna hold them. It just infuriates me!

The whole Paypal debit card thing confuses me. I have two for two different PP accounts and yet they keep telling me that it's not and has never been available to Canada.

I finally applied for pp debit card and got approved. I also received an email this morning and it told me to expect it in 1-2 weeks.

When I transfer funds it takes two -three days to get it, which I don't get.

It takes me two days to transfer funds and the delay is all on PP's end.

I got a debit card, but I haven't used it. I'm not sure how long it took to come because they sent it to the wrong address. How they did that, I haven't the faintest idea. And, apparently they tried to call me once, but they said that it was the wrong phone number. Now, I've had the same number for over 5 years, so I have no idea what they were calling. Paypal and eBay need to hire some new/better people to get some of these fundamental kinks worked out.

I had one before but closed that account and recently applied for a new one, and they declined me. IT still stinks when you try to transfer $$ b/c you still ahve to wait a couple of days

It does stink that we have to wait for the funds. Especially because they can take them so quickly but not so quick going the other way.

I think that they purposely hold them an extra day or two to make interest off of the money. Hold enough money for a day or two, and you make a killing. Electronic transfers like that should take like a day, but because they take so long from there, I suspect that is what they do. What happens when I transfer is that they hold it for two days and then my bank gets it and INSTANTLY deposits it, so I know that the delay is all on their end. BTW, I have USAA as my bank. Paypal is such a pain.

Ive never tried to get a pp debit card. I wouldnt feel comfortable with a card from them. You may go shopping and mysteriously your card is declined. kwim

I have it just in case. I've had problems with bank accounts in the past, so if there is ever a situation where I need my money in my paypal account, I'd like to have a direct path set up ahead of time.

Yes, USAA ROCKS. SERIOUSLY. I changed over to them because I had so many problems with wells fargo. So nice having great customer service when money is involved.

I never use my PP debit card like a credit card...like pot_luck said, I don't want the embarassement of being "declined", so I use it STRICTLY to withdraw my PP funds. When I transfer money into my bank account, it usually is there the very next day. Maybe 'cause I use a huge bank like Bank of America? Who knows, right?

I have the PayPal debit card and I am in Canada. I got it ages ago, never used it as I had heard about it being declined at the stores, so I just let it go and it expired. A new one came and I renewed it and I stuck it in my wallet.

Just recently I tried it as I had some funds sitting there, I bought a low priced item at the local lumber store...about $28.00...worked like a dream!

It worked just like a MasterCard would, I had to sign. The funds came out about 2 days later. (I was charged .28 cents as a fee). I used it once more and the funds came out the next day...so now I keep it as my back up.

I have a PP debit card, and it always randomly gets declined. It's like the more money I have in my PP account, the less the chance there is of my debit card actually working! I have had to make so many phone calls to get it fixed that it's almost not worth it anymore.

But I got one so that I can transfer money faster (by taking it out of an atm). I only have 1 CC, so I can only transfer $500 a month. They said to raise that limit, I'd have to give them my social (which I'm a little scared of doing) or link another cc (but I only have one!

The whole thing just confuses me. I'd raher just wait the ectra couple of days for my money. I don't want another debit card. Oh, and here's another shout out for USAA.....they rock!

Got one last month, works like a charm when I use it at the post office to pay for shipping out my sales - and I use it to withdraw my money out of my account. Never had any problems with it --- so far.
