Default Another Horror in the mailbox

I bidded for this bag expecting it to be in good condition just like how the seller described it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=150264051978

I was thoroughly disappointed when the bag came looking like this:

More pics:

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...7/P1020932.jpg

The bag is clearly well worn. The leather is very seasoned and yellowish in general and the shape was not maintained. I normally stuffed my bags with stuffings when not in use and obviously this bag was mistreated.

Now please tell me if the item was misrepresented and not as described? Also, the auction has a coin purse which didn't come in the package.[

I have emailed the seller and it has been almost 24hours. How long should I give him till I do something about this?

That bag looks rough. However, I think that you would only be able to argue the pen marks as the seller stated that it was a "used bag" yet stated "no tears, broken parts or defects". Technically, the pen mark would be considered a "defect" to the bag. As for the leather yellowing and the color transfer, this is to be expected with a used, white bag IMO. I think that it would just be considered normal wear and tear for the bag.

I would have a problem, because they didn't mention the yellowing or did they? I didn't look at your link. If you are finding flaws that aren't in the description, I would send it back.

I feel so foolish buying a used white bag on eBay now.

But I still don't think it's fair to EXPECT the colour transfers and worn edges on a bag he described as GOOD?

Your seller obviously took pictures of the bag, making sure to avoid any coloring or ink marks. I feel that this seller seriously misled you. I would have thought that from the pictures, the bag was in great, used condition. There isn't anything else in that auction to prove otherwise. I think you were misled and the seller is at fault. ^ I agree with you. If a buyer never owned a white bag, they may not necessarily know about it going yellowish. He wasn't honest as far as I'm concerned. I would ship it back.

He conveniently failed to photograph the ink mark. I think you will have a good case with Paypal, you did pay with a CC I hope.
Do I see 2 different ink marks? OMG.

^^this bothers me the most. He has 5-6 photographs depicting the strap and yet NONE of them show the ink mark. That's intentional and deliberate manipulation of the photos IMO.

I agree.

What they did was clearly misrepresented this item and took pictures of the nice parts of the bag.

I would definitely file a SNAD through PP & eBay. But contact your seller first and see what she/he says. If they give you a hassle, then definitely file a SNAD. That's just horrible!

No defects means no defects. A pen stain on a luxury bag is a defect. A responsible seller who is interested in a mutually beneficial transaction doesn't do this. And who needs all those photos of boxes and bags? That's usually a bad sign, in my experience. On top of this, the seller, who got $520 from you, can't bring himself to reply to your email in a timely manner. Some of you might disagree with me on this, but I don't like it when sellers list their bid rules, paying instructions and shipping options before a description of the item for sale. It's like a subliminal thing: "All I want is your money, and I don't care about what you want." Can you imagine going into a retail store and being told "that's $800" before you even pick up the bag to look at it? Granted, if all else looks good, this wouldn't necessarily keep me from buying the item, but I still don't like it.

In any case, if you're not happy with the bag, return it. The item is not as decribed, IMO.

Wow, judging from the pictures, they made sure to take pictures without any marks in it--that seems rather intentional. You did the right thing by contacting the seller, now hopefully they respond and take it back without any trouble. Good luck!

As a seller, what were they thinking by doing that? Didn't they realize that they would be found out?

She sure took lots of nice pictures of the box, bag and cards! It almost seems like she purposely left out pictures of the flaws! Did you pay by PayPal? I'd file a SNAD with PP. Even though she did state that the bag was used and had not rips, broken parts or defects, she should have disclosed the ink mark and yellowing. I think you paid way too much for the condition the bag is in, but you would have way of knowing the real condition because she conveniently left that part out. I'd be so mad!

ITA! Why can't people just be truthful in their listings instead of trying to pull one over on someone? $520.00 is a lot of money for a bag that is in that condition!

The condition this bag in is far from being "very good", I think you can file for SNAD with paypal.
