Default am i wrong by not paying???
i bought 3 items from this seller. before bidding, i emailed her & ask about combined shipping. she emailed me back & said $10 for shipping no matter how many items. so i won 3 items & now she wanted $16 for shipping. i emailed her & reminded her about our conversation...well she said her policy changed. now is $10 for 1st item & $3 for each additional.

$6 is not much at all...but i dont want to pay bcuz she didn't keep her words. so am i wrong for not paying? i want to pay but i think shes wrong to charge me more. what do u think i should do? tia

I guess it depends on how much you want the items. It sounds unfair, but are these things going to be pricey for the seller to ship, or is it reasonable to assume she's just making a bit more on your purchases?

I'm sure I'd be annoyed, but can't say how I'd react.

What is her stated shipping on her auctions? Does it mention combined shipping? Did the message where she quoted the total for combined show up in your MY MESSAGES or was it sent directly to you via email?

IF the 16$ is more than it's stated shipping is for the 3 items combined in the emails then yes it's a violation. It may be hard to enforce the discounted rate unless it's stated in the auctions.

i need to re-read the listing. i can't remember what she had on there. i bought from her before & it was $10 shipping. plus i double checked with her before bidding. i dont think it would cost her much for shipping. they were 2 shirts & a summer dress.

It's not necessarily how much it SHOULD cost her for shipping, but if you bought them and individually the auctions said 6$ a piece she's not required to combine shipping for you unless she agreed on the side OR she had a policy for combined shipping mentioned as details to the auctions.

You can't not pay. She really isn't allowed to ask for more after the auction, but this is not in the auction unless her ads specifically give a combined amount.

If you don't pay, she can file an unpaid item and give you a strike.

I would politely remind her of her quote to you and if she doesn't want to stand by it, there isn't a lot you can do.

Perhaps you need to forward her e-mail of the combined shipping in case

she doesn't remember telling you she would combine the items.

The shipping charge will be automatically calculated when you check them out. Only the seller could modify it. If you don't pay them all, you will receive three unpaid strikes. IMO, it is not worth it since you probably will be suspended by eBay. You could forward her own email back to her to remind her. If she doesn't honor her promise, you could leave her appropriate feedbacks after you received the itmes. I just feel it is not worth to get suspended for $6.00.

I wouldn't care if I got a NPB strike, or not.

I'd tell her I'd pay her what we agreed and not a penny more.

Firstly, it's the principle of the thing and secondly, if she can happily lie about shipping costs, what else can she lie about?

Anyway, I would think her email would constitute a written contract, so even if eBay wouldn't make her uphold it and might allow her to file a NPB, you are not legally obliged to pay the extra.

Perhaps you could also challenge the NPB(s), if she filed one (or more), I'm not sure?

Can you use her email address and send her the agreed amount, i.e. the cost of the 3 items plus the $10. Explain that you are sending the agreed amount in your comment.

If you do end up paying the higher non-agreed shipping amount, just feel satisfied knowing you can choose to leave the seller a negative after you receive your items.

I would pay and shop somewhere else from now on. She should value the buyers!

I may be incorrect by saying this but I'm not sure if the buyer will be covered by Paypal protection if she does this.

Forward the seller's email contact back to her. If she doesn't relent, can you report the item/s? I thought I saw something in reporting that let you when a seller was trying to add additional terms to their listing or similar.

Thank you. i will contact her again. Hopefully we'll work something out. I know $6 is nothing but we agreed to $10. I hate when people don't keep their words.

The right thing for her to do, would be to "honor" what she agreed to.

It is possible that she forgot. If you decide to e-mail her, request a corrected

invoice for the amount that she agreed to.
