Default Advice Please: Bidder "accidentally" hit my BIN button.

I had a bag listed on eBay. A bidder says she was trying to see if the live.com/$250 deal was working and mistakenly clicked to confirm her BIN bid. Sadly, I believe she really didn't mean to click it. And if I could cancel her bid I would, as I had a solid number of "watchers" looking at the bag.

I don't want to bully her into paying, because it's a luxury handbag... I'd rather just let one of the truly interested parties buy the bag. I'm not sure what to do. eBay won't let me re-list it because of that 30-day rule.

What would you do?

you've paid final value fees on it though, surely you want to get those back ?
also, i had the 30 day listing message but still managed to relist an item, have you tried to relist ?

this all just happened yesterday, so you are right. I want to also not be responsible for those fees on a bag that didn't actually sell. I tried to relist it and that's when it gave me the 30-day message. Customer service told me to file a non-paying bidder form... I just hate to do that since it seems she sincerely did do it on accident. Am I being too nice?

^I think there is an option where you can file a claim for non-paying bidder, but state the reason as "because there was a misunderstanding" - that way it doesn't count against either one of you. I've never used this, personally, so I'm not certain about this, but it's worth checking into. Good luck!

accident or not, i think you still need to file the NPB to get the fees back, unless you kindly inform her that you've had to pay XXX amount and ask her if she would like to reimburse you herself to avoid a NPB strike.
bummer that you tried to relist but couldn't, let her know that too !

Next time you put a BIN in your auction make sure you to select the "payment required immediately" option, this makes the buyer pay right away when they hit the BIN and if they dont the item stays listed.... I always do this now after the whole 30 day restrictions happened....

Use the mutual withdraw option if it still exists.

I will definitely add 'immediate pmt required" next time. Hadn't even thought of it before. Seriously, thank you all so much. I was too stunned to think clearly when it occurred.

After your tips yesterday, I filled out the NPB form an was able to select mutually withdrawn. The dispute was cleared up immediately, so I ought to be good to go.

Thank you all so much for advising me!

I'd actually never thought to do so. So it's a great tip.

I have done this, a new ebayer bidded witthout realizing that they needed a paypal account. And yes you all you do is file the claim NPB
then say other reasons- Say it's mutual
then eBay will ask the buyer if its mutual on their end too. And if they to o- agree that its mutual- then ebay then covers the fees, and noone gets a strike- And both sides walk away.

You can confirm this with eBay live support

I've been in that situation and we fixed it in a flash filing the non-paying bidder claim and stating seller and buyer have mutually agreed to not complete the transaction. Reason? A misunderstanding.
