What do you mean?

i think i know what they mean , to darken the whole thing with water to hopefully even out the color but im not sure if its a good idea

Yes, that was the idea. Wet the whole patch and maybe the patch would then become all of the darker color.

I've never tried this so please don't take this as advice from someone who knows because I don't.

It's just an idea.
