Hi there, beloved Dior ladies and gents,

I've put a thread on the general handbag forum, and I realize that I'm going to get some biased opinions here on the Dior thread , but was curious anyway about your opinion...

I've finally gotten a bonus from work and am trying to really decide between a Dior pouchette new lock and a Chanel WOC.

Some background info: Sadly, I've owned both before, but had to sell them due to financial...er, difficulties. But things are smooth sailing now and I'd like to treat myself to a new one. The problem is, I miss both these bags!!! I loved, LOVED my Dior pouchette because of the size -- it's bigger than a Chanel WOC -- but then again, I've always wanted to own a Chanel bag, because I do have a thing for that designer.

Main things I'm looking for: a crossbody bag, wallet slips, enough room for cell phone and keys. Longevity and quality.

Thanks for reading all of this! Any thoughts?

TIA!

Pochette! Have you seen my thread? I love it!
It's unique! Everyone has a WOC these days! :)

I can fit my cards, cash, LV keycase, pack of tissues, big lip balm stick thingy, and small makeup case!

Oh, and also.. I chose the pochette over the WOC because of the beautiful stitching and different colours it comes in. The chain is also beautiful!
I think Dior will soon be the new Chanel for some reason. I've converted!

I saw a girl last weekend at the mall with a pink patent pouchette. It looked very chic on her, especially with the metal lock.

That said, if you've always wanted the Chanel, then get the Chanel first. Dior has price increases all of the time, but I've heard that Chanel makes more significant mark-ups.

This is coming from a die-hard Dior fan, too.

Wow! I'm shocked, averagejoe. : )

I'm having trouble because I loved my pouchette; it holds more than the Chanel WOC...but at the same time, I do love what I've seen for the WOCs.

Quality wise, would you say Dior is superior?

I would say that these two have comparable quality. Most of the WOCs from Chanel look very well-made, just like the New Lock pouchettes.

Thanks, AJ! :) I'll do a reveal with whatever I get...

....do you mind me asking another question, folks? Do you find that the patent leather or lambskin for Dior is more durable over time? In other words, does that patent leather keep its lovely shine for years? I loved my patent pouchette, but only had it for a few months, unfortunately.

It all depends on how you treat it. If you take care of it, avoid wearing dark fabrics (especially denim) around it, avoid touching it with greasy, wet, or dirty fingers, and store it away from light in a dry cool closet, then the lambskin or patent will look nice for a long time.

The patent leather is less prone to scratching than lambskin, but is more prone to showing deeper creases (since parts that are stretched back and forth will cause the plastic coating to crease).

Good to know. Thanks again. I baby my bags, so I'll have to think about which one appeals to me more and then go for it.

The Dior pouchette is still $1150 plus tax here in the States, whereas the WOCs are climbing in price, seemingly by the hour! Sigh. Alright. I'll think it over! The Dior pouchettes are lovely in the new (late summer? pre-fall?) colors....

Perhaps Eminere can inform us of the colours for the new seasons. I got the impression that there were new purples and pastels.

Decided on a pouchette...without question. I went to visit the Chanel boutique in NM, saw the boy version of the WOC...then went over to Dior. Within a second, I knew it was going to be a Dior. Craftsmanship, color, price...without a doubt. :)
