Thanks, Natalia! From what I've seen on that thread, I'm 99.5% sure the second gaucho I received is fake, but I'll take pictures and add just in case.

Was just wondering as a quick tip, though, if that serial # is pretty much designated to all imposter bags. It was on the fake medium gaucho I had and on the double gaucho I just received.

For authentic ones, is the serial number different for each individual bag, or for each type of bag (i.e. all totes have the same #, all double saddles have the same #, all mediums have the same #...) ?

Thanks again!

Both of those bags are authentic.

The fakes never seem to get the inner tag correct.

Always look at the font, 99.9% of the time this will be incorrect on the fakes.

If the bag is an older one it will have the older gold writing authenticity cards. Dior changed the cards from gold writing to black in the early 2000's eg my lady dior is from 1998 therfore it has the older gold writing card.

Older lady dior bags have the CD cannage interior while I noticed the newer ones have the dior monogram interior.

hello luv2shop,

I think the second auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...7441&rd=1&rd=1) is fake, almost for sure.

If you look at the pics of the interior tag the seller provided, there is no stitching around all four corners of the tag...only on the top edge.

I kind of use this as a quick guide for myself when looking at Dior auctions. I am pretty sure most fakes only have stitching on the top edge, where as every single authentic I have seen (and own..hahaha) has stitching on all four edges of the interior tag.

I have seen some really good fake Dior's with stitching on all four edges of the interior tag, but within the past few years maybe only a handful. Anyone else's thoughts?

Thanks and good luck! Happy 4th of July.

hello bb and welcome to the forum ! a lot of older Dior bags will have the stitching only on top edge of the tag and this does not mean at all that the bag is fake...i dont remember exactly when the stitching on all four edges was introduced (the latest blonde line already had 4 edges stitching) , but this isnt a way to determine authenticity - on the tag you would look for the right font, right embossing ( some have golden lettering too ) and good positioning of info ( serial number must be on the back of the tag - except for limited edition). Position of made in italy/spain varies.

the serial number is different on each bag...for example my gaucho red tote has 16-MA-0056 and my white gaucho tote has 16-MA-0016.

Question Re: Authentication Tips
Hello,

A few months ago at a sample sale and I bought a Dior Rasta saddle bag and even though I love it, not very practical for me...too small.

I would like to sell it but after reading all about what's fake & real, I'm just not sure if I even bought the real thing.

Another problem is that even though I think this is real, the authenticity card does not match my purse. Not sure what to do. It kills me that I might have bought...... a FAKE!

How can I find out if it's real? HELP!

Thanks Ultimatechic and Beautifulbasics for your input! Sorry, Nataliam1976, for posting in the wrong thread. I'm a newbie to tPF, so I've still got a lot to learn. Thanks for your help and patience! Happy 4th to everyone!

Thanks again, Nat! Again, the same # on the gaucho medium and gaucho double saddle I received was 05-MA-1025. Be wary if you see it! I also noticed that the "tag" each bag came with was identical.
Not. Cool.
The ebay sellers better not give me trouble when I return them...
