clothing tip:

its usually easy to tell if a clothing item is fake... on a fake tag, the letters are much more bold than a real one..

I always look at the "D"

FAKE tags:

Question: The Dior site refers you to eluxury.com, and when looking at the Medium Gaucho Saddle Bag, the interior tag looks different than the authenticity pics listed on this thread. The "Christian Dior Paris" line doesn't have a space between it and the "made in Italy" line. What should I look for when checking the label?

Hi Mickalia!

The link doesn't seem to work for some reason. Also, may I please ask where this picture is from? The interior tag looks strange since the MADE IN ITALY words are so close to the Christian Dior PARIS logo, but I know that sometimes Dior isn't consistent with their interior leather tags.

The picture is from eluxury.com, which is where the Dior website refers you to shop online. Here's the link for that specific bag, and you can see the additional photos as you scroll over them (don't think you can look at the additional pics up close, though).

http://www.eluxury.com/browse/produc...SectionID=9000

What's weird is, it's just this one that looks off. If you look at some of the other saddle bags listed, the tags look like the one you posted for authenticity, with the space. (Again, it's not zoomed in, but I think you can see it).

Examples:

What do you think?

OH WOW! Thank you for posting these links! I didn't even notice that the Eluxury pics for the medium Gaucho included this one!

Yeah it's the same as the PF pictures in the other Eluxury pictures. I think it's just a small variation for the particular one that they chose to take pics of.

I have access to lots of used designer handbags and have come across several Dior. Since these are used bags, and some older designs, I'm having trouble authenticating and determining what they are worth. You seem quite knowledgeable and I have some questions. Firstly, on the back of the inside tags (the ones not sewn on, of course) there is an embossed stamp that says MADE IN ITALY followed by an RU and a 4 digit number. Does this number mean anything? Secondly, I have a small black patent leather bag with lots of silver buckles on the outside and the Dior logo in silver on the outside has a broken D and a broken O. Have you ever seen anything like this? Thirdly, the saddle bag I have says its a limited edition and has a four digit number underneath. How do I find out what this number means? Thanks,

Hi bubmummy,

I'm not MayDay but firstly, with regards to the interior tags - as far as i know - the regular interior tags should be sewn onto the lining at the top (making both sides of it viewable). as for the RU XXXX bit, that's the serial number of the bag. the serial number on the tag is also written on the authenticity card that comes with the bag.

second, i'm not sure which bag that is, but the only buckles bag i can think of in patent is the latest blonde bag (as pictured below):

(photos courtesy of Loganz from the "dior outlets" thread)

third, the 4 digit number for the limited edition bags is the number of the bag out of the total number produced. (i.e. if it says 0024 then it's bag number 24 out of say 100 bags made).

i hope that helps some!

Thank you so much!!! This really helps me. I don't have authentication tags because the bags are used, but if they have a serial number I figure they're not fake.(?) Or can the fakes be so good they even emboss a serial number? The pictures are perfect, and yes, I have a bag very similar to those. A blonde bag, hm? That's very appropriate because I was going to give it to a blonde friend!! Thank you for taking the time to download the pictures. I feel very relieved about these bags. The limited edition saddle bag is, to me, quite UGLY but my daughter said we couldn't NOT buy it (US$75).....so I guess we did alright.

hi bubmummy,

just an fyi, fakes do come with serial number too. it realy just depends on how the interior tag looks like and which line the bag is from so that other features can be observed to determine its authenticity. if you're in any doubt about the authenticity of a bag, please do take some pictures of both the exterior & interior of the bag and post them up in the "authenticate this" thread. i'm sure lots of PFers here will be more than ready to help you out with the authenticity (or even just provide more information about a particular line, etc).

Hi zerodross,

Yes, I believe I will get my daughter (I'm technologically impaired) to do that and send it in.......although my theory has always been that since these are (gently) used bags, and used by Kuwaiti women who have no real monetary need to buy a fake bag, I'm pretty safe. But you can never be too sure, right?

i'm not too familiar with sunnies, but generally, keep an eye out on the "Christian Dior" print on the arm/handles of the sunnies.

that said, i can however give one piece of cautionary advice, i've transacted with the ebay seller -shadesexpo (who sells a lot of designer sunnies, including dior ones) and after BIN-ing and paying promptly, never received my sunnies and they completely ignored my emails asking for a tracking number or even information about whether the sunnies were sent out. so i'd say to steer clear of them. (i eventually got my refund after filing a dispute with paypal and threatened to report them to the IC3 and their local jurisdiction).
