wow i never knew that about the street chic line! more mind-boggling stuff! actually, May, what are the lines that come with the older authenticity (gold) cards? Everytime i see a bag with one of those older cards, i get somewhat confused, particularly if it's the non-obvious lines. i would love to know more so at least if i see a gold authenticity card next time, i wouldn't simply pass it up.

Hi,

what do you think about this bag ? the seller put it on ebay for 600 EUR first but it was'nt sold. Now she asking min. 500 EUR ( about 750$)( the bag has been used)

eBay.be: Sac Dior Gaucho (double saddle) (object 280063799020 eindtijd 01-jan-07 15:24:41 CET)

I'm still new to Dior. At first I thougt it is fake ( because of the dustbag). But Dior seems to use different kinds of dustbags. What do you think about the authenticity card? I have seen cards that only have "Christian Dior" on the front side, this one has the "Christian Dior" and a number.

Thank you and happy new year

Hi pat,

Welcome!
the bag is a fake because the authenticity cards for dior are now merely a grey card with "christian dior" in black on it. I hope that helps, and for future authentication questions, you might want to post it in the "authenticate this" thread at the top of the subforum!

Hmmm...I'll try to write them down..I hope I remember enough of them:

GOLD lettering on authenticity card:
- Dior Street Chic
- Dior Saddle (includes the bowling saddle and other variations)
- Dior Trailer
- Dior Trotter
- Lady Dior
- (bags made before Galliano started to design for Dior)
- (the bag that looks like the top of a pair of pants)

The Street Chic, Saddle, and Lady Dior have black lettering cards as well, because they were still manufactured after Dior changed their cards.

Hmmm...Dior monograms are tricky...sometimes the logos (like on fake Girly bags) look almost 100% accurate. However, the Dior monogram jacquard inside the bag is quite different when comparing real ones with fake ones. The interior lining isn't supposed to look shiny/sheeny...it looks more glittery in nature. If it looks like it has too much sheen it's definitely fake. Also, the logos must not be inverted/upside-down. The logos must also resemble the Dior logo without looking too stretched in any direction, and must be straight (not angled)...or in other words, aligned with the upright direction of the bag.

Usually fake Dior have really poorly-made interior jacquard lining even if the bag looks somewhat real on the outside...this is probably because a lot of attention was given to the exterior but the interior had to be rushed due to production demands (so the linings look like they're cheaply made or attached).

So is this card fake because doesn´t have itself unique number above white space?
All cards has to have this number?
Thanks!!

Hi Yoguina!

Not all cards have the number on top of the white space (many older ones don't). I'm not sure if the card in this picture is real (because i can't see the front of the card) but so far it looks authentic from the behind.

^ hey may,

yoguina was quoting from pash4fashn's post (which compared her authentic denim gaucho with her sister's fake white gaucho)
here's the picture that pash attached for the front of the card:

and here's the back:

the card on the top for both picture is the real deal and the ones at the bottom are fake.
(taken from pash4fash's post here:http://forum.purseblog.com/1323171-post17.html)

to add to it myself, i've not really noticed the little serial number on the cards, but i always thought those bottom ones looked pretty real. those pirates are really good at this.

I agree! The trick, though, is to look at the "D" on the front of the card. You will notice that the D is in the wrong font.

This isn't easy to do, however, since sellers that sell fakes don't always take close-up pictures of these cards, and even if the authenticity card is real it doesn't necessarily mean that the bag is real (the bag may very well be a fake, but the seller purchased an authentic authenticity card through Ebay/Ioffer/whatever else and placed it in the auction to deceive others).

hi sassafrassy,

i think the thread you're supposed to post on is the "authenticate this!" thread rather than this one - this is for tips on authentication.

that said, the pictures are rather small, but the colours - the muddy light brown (rather than a deep dark rich brown) and the funny mustard colour for the links (rather than a more aged/dirty tan) all point to a fake bag. i hope that helps!
