The second one does have the wrong dustbag, and it also has an inaccurate Dior logo, lambskin links that are too "clean-looking", and the studs are not concealed by the belt buckle. So it's also fake.

i just realised it! silly me took ageeesss to get through the 2 items and you have a really good eye MayDay! I didn't even notice the obvious looking studs that weren't concealed!

and you're right on the money about the first! i totally didn't notice the plastic covering to the authenticity card.

i definitely still have a long way to go before getting these sort of details down.

I wish your sister can appreciate your real Gaucho and see how different it is from hers. Yeah, she probably got it for way less than yours (probably not off Ebay, because fakes sell for quite a bit on Ebay), but the quality and craftsmanship she paid for is nothing close to that of the real deal.
So true! she hasn't even used it, its been sitting in her wardrobe for over a month and i'm sure its because she knows its a fake and i think there's nothing more humiliating than wearing a fake. I think she paid close to the $200 from that disgusting offer site.. i'm not sure if i'm allowed to mention it.
I just had a great idea re informing more ppl on ebay how to distinguish between a fake and a real gaucho.... i was thinking of selling a pictures of the real Gaucho... u know... the medallion, interior, auth cards, dust bag etc for a buy it now price of $2 (to cover ebay fees) and email the pics to the buyer and also creating a guide and making reference to it in my listing. whatdya reckon?

Ive been seeing a lot of Gaucho bags on ebay that have a different colored tag on the inside as well as zipper color. Now I thought that different colors were a sure sign of a fake. However, a few posts ago someone posted pictures of a real gaucho that had these different colored tags. Whats the deal with different colored tags, real or fake?

That is a wonderful idea!!! Make sure you have some way of copyrighting the pictures so people don't redistribute them. I think that it's absolutely worth your while, as well as others' because they won't be so easily fooled!!! There are a few links on Ebay that help authenticate Gauchos, but the pictures are so small that they are hardly useful.

Hi again TheForum!

The leather tag inside is supposed to be the same color as some part of the leather outside...so you can't have a white tag for a black Gaucho. The only reason why there are pics of different colored tags in the pics I posted is because I took a bunch of different pics from different sellers to show these details...I can't ever get pics as clear as these with my cheap camera, so I had to rely on people's Ebay auctions (with authentic bags). Unfortunately, not every auction had pics I needed, so I had to go around to borrow a few.

Hi,

I found this guide on ebay and I think it's very usefull !

eBay Guides - DIOR GAUCHO - TELL A FAKE FROM THE REAL THING

Alsways ask for a photograph of the dust bag: if it has " Christian Dior" written on it it's a fake....... the real ones are marked "dior". I you can't see what's written on the bag, you know it's a fake even without looking at the bag itself

Thanks a million for posting this link! It is very helpful. The only thing that I wish the author could've done was take a clearer pic of the coin face, because the flash took away so many details on his face.

lol guess what i bought my first dior gaucho (red tote ) from DIOR official website – Online boutique and it arrived with a dustbag with a full name "Christian Dior" on it ! so noone should really judge only by the dustbag ! also and i know that it must be faulty , u can see the tiniest little bit of the two rivets from underneath the logoed silver part of the buckle...but im not sending it back i just want it to be with me forever!

wow, they had a "christian dior" on it?! i thought dior phased those out and replaced it with the new "dior" dustbags. (and from what i read in some other post, it seems like they have new black dustbags now!?)

either way, congrats on the new red gaucho tote! the red is the most beautiful shade of red i've seen on a bag. it's a real beauty! ooh and please do post pictures up if you can, it'd be nice to see pictures of the gaucho (i never tire of seeing pictures of them)

Wow! The "Christian Dior" on a Gaucho dustbag is new on me, too. I guess it's similar to the Street Chic line which had authenticity cards of both generations.

Congratulations on getting your red Gaucho! Please post pics!
