beautifulbasics, your authentication tips for Gaucho bags are very helpful. I've learned a lot today. Thank you for your post...

i am seeing a lot of dior saddle bags claiming to be authentic on ebay, everything checks out except the inside tag. I thought the later ones circa 1993 and later have stitching all around the inside leather tag?

does this mean this bag is fake?

Earlier bags don't have the stitching all around the tag. This bag would be from 2001 based on the date code.

I'm not liking the shape of the CD pull though the space between the C and D look too wide.

All true what Schmodi said about the tag stitching.

a clear close up of the inside tag so that we can see the font, a clear close up of the hardware as on the pic enclosed and we will know for sure.

Next time please post authenticity questions here

I'm not sure what year they started including the tags, but yes for newer bags.

Older vintage ones do not.

post it it authenticate this thread, if u really dont want to, focus on the inside tag, if the tag is right, the bag should be ok. It really depends on the style of the bag what you need to look for.

I have a question. I recently bought two Gauchos from Neiman Marcus. They are the exact same bag. One is going to be a gift. I noticed the number underneath the label tags are the exact same on both. However, the authenticity cards each have a unique number. Should I be careful not to mix the cards? Is each card number unique to that particular bag? Neither card is filled out. I've included pics of the cards in case my question isn't clear.
Wanna be sure she doesn't end up with the card I should have for my bag. I hope I put them back in the correct bag. Or, does it even matter, as long as we both have a card since the bags are exact?
Thanks!

The tags can be the same if they were produced at a similar time so thats not an issue. As for the authentic cards the number doesnt really matter either. I don't think we really pay attention to the numbers and I dont think the number relate to the bag its just a generic number from production.

LaMissy, thanks for answering. I'll just make sure she has one and I have the other.

how does the lettering scheme on the back of the inside tag work? I have one bag that says RU 1002, one that says 05-MA-0054, and so on. Can you tell where or when they were made by this and can certain bag styles have the same or similar numbers as other styles? sorry if this has been covered before.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, the last four digits refer to the month and year of manufacture in the format MYMY. So 1002 means October 2002 and 0054 means May 2004. Older styles have only the two letters preceding the digits, while newer ones have this sequence in front: ##-XX. I've yet to find out what those characters mean, though I suspect they refer to the week and the location of manufacture.

Thank you!

I would appreciate any other feedback on what the serial numbers mean.
