Fake!

And the seller has provided photos of a tag that, while existing in real life, doesn't match with the bag at all!

Default Hi can you authenticate this "vintage Dior"?
Hello,

I'm new here so I'm not sure if I am on the right forum. Anyway, I have a "vintage Dior" bag that I inherited from my mom (the reason why I put quotes is because I don't know if its authentic) when she passed. This bag is dear to me since it was the bag she used when dating my dad. They dated in 1982, got married in 1983, had my brother in 1984, then had me in 1986. So I am thinking that the bag is 1983 or before.

I have been using the bag on and off through the past 6 years and recently one of the screws on the handle/strap is lost. I heard that I can bring a Dior bag to the Dior store and they would replace the screw for me, but I also heard that if they find a fake, they'll take it away. The emotional value of this bag is more than the retail value; I want to know if I can take it in to have fix without risk of losing it.

If you need any more photos, please let me know. I tried taking the best quality photos with my camera. And in case you can't see, the screws on the bag are flathead.

Hi,

Is there any way you can authenticate this handbag with the pictures provided here? I asked for clearer pictures and this is what I received. The seller has good feedback but......

Thanks for any help !

Hi nataliam1976,

The tag isn't cut off but frayed. I attached another picture which is hopefully more detailed.

the bag is probably authentic, but I would need to see the whole tag to say 100%.

To answer your question in two parts:

1. The possibility of any repairwork is always dependent on spare parts being available. Considering the age of the bag it is unlikely that there would be replacement screws still available; however, please feel free to take it in to a boutique for an assessment and advice.

2. I've never heard of staff retaining a customer's item if it's fake. Particularly since the item is still the customer's property. In Australia in any case staff do not authenticate items so this wouldn't be an issue here.
