Hi latest obsession!

The pics show a perfectly authentic Dior Gaucho bag...his feedback doesn't say that he's sold a fake BUT he has LOTS of negative feedback saying that he sells very poor condition items as new. So this bag may be stained and stuff (although it's not easy to see in pics until you buy the item). Then again even if the Gaucho has scruffs or is dirty, it doesn't make the bag look terribly used because it's supposed to look antiqued.

Agreed! Plus I would never buy from a person who relies solely on Eluxury's pics, because there must be something so wrong with the bag (maybe it's fake) that they can't even put pics of it. Besides, if you pay over $100 for ANYTHING on Ebay, you should expect QUALITY pictures of the items you are buying...The weakness of Ebay is that you can't touch and feel the item you want to buy, and if the pictures don't show the real thing, then you don't even know what you're buying!!!

I should have known better, but I guess I am a sucker for a cool bag. I purchased this vintage Dior clutch on ebay...Is there any one that would know if I got a steal or was ripped off? I am hoping that this is real. Thanks for checking it out! Here are the pics below.

Ummm...it looks a WEE bit suspicious. The Dior logos are angled and stretched...I've seen the old Scotchgard-ed logo tapestry bags and their logos don't look like that. But I really can't tell older models...this may very well be authentic. Plus I'm not sure if fakes were made of these older models. Any suggestions?

Hi dolphinsmile!

From looking at the shape of the saddle bag, it seems authentic although some of the pictures are quite poor quality (it's hard to tell what the inside leather tag actually looks like). Also, I thought this Detective-style saddle was supposed to have polished leather, not grained leather as it appears in the picture. The Dior paper tag is real, and it indicates that it's supposed to be polished leather...the quality of the pictures make it hard to tell if the leather is actually polished. One thing that surprises me is the lack of Dior logo jacquard lining inside...this version should have the tan and white logo flowers lining or regular plain jacquard (Dior lines their non-logo bags with monogramed jacquard lining), but I actually haven't seen this line in real life before so I guess it's hard to tell.

Can you ask for more clear pictures please? I mean, at around $1000 you would expect pictures that show what you are actually bidding on.

Many of the details of this bag match up with the real thing (especially the logo on the leather charm that hands with the D I O R metal charms). However, the inside of the bag appears to be a different story. The leather flap that says Dior is sewn very croakedly (actually, it is sewn croakedly onto the lining AND the sewing is croaked around the flap...it almost looks cheaply done, and at over $1000/bag, this usually doesn't appear); the Christian Dior PARIS words are very croaked as well; and the interior red cannage lining looks very suspicious because the CD logo on the lining doesn't look very right (even though you can really only see one of them), and the lining seems to have a corduroy appearance with vertically-running lines. Here is what the real one looks like:


The lines aren't in this one, although this is the exact same lining. Notice especially the cannage motif...they're just not the same although they should be.



Maybe this is an older version and I've just never seen it before, but I would take this to the boutique to verify its authenticity if I were you, unless other PFers who has seen this can correct me.

The one in the pictures is authentic, but I've seen this exact picture used in 3 listings by different sellers, and I don't know who stole from who. That's why it's very suspicious and unless the seller can provide pictures of the bag at many different angles I'd bid with extreme caution (or not bid at all). I've seen many of these bags on Ebay and I'm sure one more will be up in 3 days.

I found this auction in the deals and steals site of a purseforum member that posted it in that area. :( You guys think its a fake now ? :(
