Arrrgh, I'm tired of Banana Republic, Old Navy, and GAP doing these "select customer" promos - mostly because it CHANGES. There's been times where I've logged on to Banana Republic and I've seen "Take 20% off!" on the main screen....and I log on a mere 6 hours later and it's suddenly switched to 30% off.

I always assumed that they did these promotions based either on your email address or IP location, so why it switches on the main retailer page when I use a static IP and the same email address is beyoooond me.

It's aggravating AND confusing - I never know what the real discount is until I go through the process of checking out, and what if I place an order with 20% off only to get 30% off later that evening?

Get rid of it GAP/BR/Old Navy and hand out the same promo for everyone!

Actually, your discount is determined at random and based on cookies. There's an old post about it on Slickdeals where some computer geeks explain how to change the cookie's value to get the deal you want. That post was regarding an older Gap promo, but the basic gist of it is the same.

Call your gap before heading out but I just cld mine & they are doing an extra 40% off women sale, 20% off mens sale. She didn't know when it would end but told me it was definitely on for today
