I'm pretty sure that they are the same pair of boots. The first looks like slate. It definitely has a green undertone.

Depends partly on the thickness of your socks, I think. I could probably get by with my regular size if I wore really thin socks, but I like thicker socks so got 1/2 size up.

I own both the brown and slate and they are two totally different colors. The black and the slate look more similar.

jessica - I have the slate and was thinking about getting black also. So if I got a second pair, would you recommend the brown instead?

I am so happy everyone is taking advantage of my post! I have received the slate and the brown as well and love them both! They are a little tough to get on if you did not go up 1/2 size. However, I ordered 3 pairs - a slate in my true size and a brown and slate at 1/2 size up. They all fit but the one that is my true size is definitely tough to get on. But once on, I like better than the larger size. In any case, have no doubts...buy these boots and enjoy!

I got mine on with some nylon footies. It was tough the first couple of times, but once you get them on and walk around in them for a few hours they break in rather quickly. The 3rd time I was able to put them on with socks. They are fab boots and worth the extra effort to break them in.
