good to know! thanks!!
i noticed there was a buckle on the leg - i'm crossing my fingers hoping that means it's very adjustable and will accommodate my calves. thanks a bunch! gonna order now!!

Oops, I meant to say the boots run 1/2 size small (thus requiring a larger size for me!). Sorry if I confused anyone

plumabob -- yes, there are three holes in the buckle at the calf. It's also helpful when if you want to tuck jeans into them, you can undo the buckle, slip the jeans into the boots, then buckle back up. Otherwise, it'd be tricky to tuck jeans inside.

I got my slate pair today too. They are dark, I don't even know how to describe the color, but certainly not the grey I was anticipating. But I LOVE them. They are one of the best fitting boots I have and very true to size.

BTW, does anyone know how Frye boots deal with wet weather?

Are the slate boots more like charcoal?

To me, they are a greenish, medium, warm-toned gray. The name of the color, according to Frye, is "slate blue".

Here's a pic. These are the Frye Veronica Slouch (Sundance "Engineer" boots) in slate. Hope it helps; I was actually photographing the tunic instead of the boots :)
