The Barneys Warehouse Sale in Los Angeles begins on Thursday, August 7 and will run through Sunday, August 17 and will be held at its regular digs at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. I just got my postcard in the mail yesterday and did a crappy job of taking a photo of it (I couldn’t use my scanner).

New York dates are from August 14-September 1.

wow thanks!! im so excited!! i think im going to go a few days after it starts so I dont have to deal with the big crowds...anybody recommend a time to go when its not so "rushy" but theres still some good stuff? Or is the opening time the only time when I can grab some good deals? Im looking for purses and some shoes...TIA!!!

it's usually not as crowded on weekday mornings, not including the thursday and friday when the sale starts. so maybe monday (august 11) morning? the purses on sale are usually private label stuff or some odd "as is" designer label that's scratched beyond repair. i got good deals on louboutins and lanvin flats at 80% off retail towards the end of the sale last february but it was already slim pickings by then. they slash prices progressively towards the end of the sale. by around 2-3 days before it ends, shoes are marked an extra 40% off. then later it gets marked an additional 50% off. that's happened to me: i got shoes at an extra 40% off, brought my bags to the car and decided to return to scope out more deals and discovered that shoe prices were slashed further to an additional 50% off. it wasn't even more than an hour since i bought my shoes at 40% off so i got the manager and had the prices adjusted, and happily for me, they did.

the sales page on barneys.com will give you an idea on selection and pricing. if you can, go at the start of the sale (for best selection) and then towards the end (for best prices). who knows what you might find.

My loot from February:
Shoes: Louboutin boots were approximately $180 (from $980), Lanvin flats were $105, Louboutin patent slingbacks were $115 (I think).

Armani jacket (part of a suit orig $2895, marked down to $1159, then $500. since the trousers were missing they were an additional 75% off so I got them for $125!)

wow, nice haul! Looks like it was all in prisitine condition too...last time I went things were so dirtied...

starbabe, i got all of them (including the armani jacket) one day before the sale ended. i guess i got lucky but i looked really hard to find those deals. LOL! i spent a few hours there going back and forth scoping the racks. but as it was on a weekend, i had lots of time to spare. :-)

it was basically hit or miss, settle for something that you really don't like but the deals were too good kind of deal. there were tons of kate moss for topshop stuff that nobody touched. you'll never know what you'll find.

btw, i might not go til the end of the sale. my funds have just been depleted from the goyard sale so i'll just wait towards the end and hope i get my bonus by then... i'd love to hear from those who are going.

shopdiary-- out of curiousity, what day of the week was it that you went?

Personally I'm curious about going on a Sunday...it seems like there'd be less people on a Sunday, but then again it's the weekend...
