A little late the the discussion, but this thread just happened to hit on my burning question... Over here in Japan MIF (or MIS) is the ONLY desireable type of item. There is a large market for resale of used items and by far I have seen MIF (MIS) items go for much higher prices. In fact, sellers often make disclamers for Made in the USA items.

If the quality is the same, I don't understand this type of discrimination... Or at least why feel obligated to tell a customer before hand that the item is a Made in the USA??
