This would be February of 1988. The country code doesn't always follow the date.

I have quite a few pairs of Louis Vuitton shoes. There's several more country codes for made in Italy.

MA, NQ, EL, BR, SA, GI, BO, RO

I'll go look later and see if there are any others.

Thanks for the date codes, however.. this reference is for handbags only. It would be to confusing to update this list with shoes and RTW...

Wow I am so glad I found your post!! Thanks so much for this info. I'm looking at some LV bags on eBay because they are discontinued models and I'm terrified of wasting money on a fake, but I feel better knowing that I can verify the date code. :)

This is a reference guide only and any purchases that you are considering should be posted in the Authentication Forum just to be sure

My speedy has a date code that starts with AA and was made in France. I don't think that one was mentioned yet.

Are there any pieces don't have a date code at all? When trying on sunglasses at LV I don't recall seeing one (but I didn't scrutinize the shades then)?!

AA is on the top of the list on the date code by handbag type list

CA=Spain 1016= 11-2006
