SD where it was made Country
0036 03= March first and third number Month it was made
06= 2006 second and fourth number year it was made

This is an example of a date code and does not reflect the one on your speedy

if the date code is A2 882, on a vintage piece, does that mean it's made in france in august of 1982?

On Vintage Pieces...

In the early 1980's date codes were only three or four numbers no letters.
Late 1980's Three our four numbers followed by two letters ie: 8911-AN

Very early 1990's Two letters followed by four numbers SD-0990

A2-France
882- August 1982
You are correct, however is the date code 882-A2?

well, it's on a vintage noe. on on top of the rivet is the A2, then under the rivet is the 882.

That is fine. On the vintage speedys they put the letters on one side of the handel by rivet and numbers on the other side rivet of handle.

no problem. just to let you know, some fakes have legit datecodes... that's just a "heads-up".
