Can you tell what the major differences between the nook and the kindle are? Why are there keys on the bottom of the kindle? Do you know what they are used for? They don't seem to be on the nook, big deal? ![]() I don't really know anything about either of them... But, I do love those KS covers for the nook!! |

THANK YOU! to everyone who answered my question about the book samples...... I was just really silly and didn't go back to my home screen and check. I called customer service and they were so nice, but they even laughed!

You can't loan out your books on the Kindle.
You can't page from chapter to chapter on the Kindle. There is no color on the Kindle. Kindle has access to around 300,000 books, whereas the Nook has access to over a million. Basically, I like my Kindle all right for now but I may switch to the Nook ASAP |

You can leave everything on the K1 and it will stay on the device even after your mom registers the new one in her name. You can resend all of your books onto the K2 or just leave them in the archives until you want to read them. The advantage of just leaving the K1 in your name is that you and your mom can share the books you both purchase. |

Here is an even better side by side comparison....
Based on this, I don't see anything on the Nook that I don't have on the Kindle that I care about..... I am fully confident that with the Nook coming out, Amazon will "up the ante" of books available, and possible lending applications.... http://www.barnesandnoble.com/nook/compare/ So far, I freaking LOVE my Kindle!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! |

Wow, dropped my Kindle and cracked it. After lots of sobbing, I called customer support, who will ship me a new one priority mail plus provide prepaid return shipping. I'm very impressed and happy, but also a bit skeptical ... if they can provide a $490 device just like that, it must be severely overpriced!! Whatever, EVERYTHING is overpriced. And I have finally begun to love my Kindle. I don't want to learn anything good about the Nook or other devices, because I want to commit to this one for at least a couple of years. Now I gotta look for a giant cover.

Have had my kindle2 for almost 9 months now and I still love it. It cracks me up that I have all of those books at my fingertips!
I played with the Sony Reader at Best Buy the other day and was underwhelmed. |

I was intrigued by the Nook am hoping that the competition will pave the way for better priced Kindle books and more upgrades to the next Kindle releases. I already have so many Kindle books that I would hate to just abandon all of those for a new device. |

Yeah I was still covered under warranty. I think sending me a replacement is above and beyond, which brings out the cynic in me. But seriously, excellent customer service on this one.
This is kind of off topic, but I have a system for buying Kindle books. I purchase physical copies of books when I know I will want to reread them -- an author I love, or a classic that's meant to be cherished, etc. I "purchase" a lot of free books, too. I try to do them through Amazon instead of through public websites because if I ever have to reset my Kindle, those Amazon books will be there and I won't have to upload them all over again. Hope that makes sense. I buy actual books on Kindle when they are a LOT cheaper than the physical copies, and I want to read them once and then move on. I'm very happy with my strategy!! |
