My SO ordered one for us and it is supposed to arrive today! I cannot wait to use it, as I have heard so many great things about it. I am mainly excited because it will cut down on the clutter of newspapers and magazines.

Additionally, it really filled up the recycle bin after a week.

The Kindle was a great solution. It's easy for him to read the paper on the train now, he is no longer fiddling with the large format of the newspaper. He gets his WSJ every day when he travels. It's $10 per month for the Kindle subscription, vs. the $249 (+tip) for the delivered paper.

I stick to going to the library for my books, but for my husband it is perfect. If the library ever starts lending out e-books, I will get one for me, too.
Thanks for this review. Now I'm reconsidering my WSJ print. But I have print and online, can you get online content w/Kindle?

I think its Kindle/Amazon exclusive. You can hook it up to your computer though. I'll have to read the manual....

I believe some of the online content is available in the download, but not all of it. I have never had the WSJ online, so I cannot compare them. I would venture a guess that if you want the online content, you will need to keeps subscribing online. I would suggest calling them and seeing if they can give you a deal on it. When my husband called to cancel the paper subscription, they refunded the balance really quickly.

I feel so bad, I have barely read the Journal since we have it on the Kindle. My husband keeps it in his bag, and I simply don't think about it. I really enjoy the human interest stories that often fall on the front page.

I have been considering one but it has gotten mixed reviews on Amazon. It sounds like there are still a few bugs to work out--I think I will wait til the next generation is out.

I LOVE my Kindle, do a lot of traveling and easier than carrying a book. No pdf format, can only download or wireless transfer from Amazon. That's why I debated getting the Sony reader, but I think I made the right choice.

The screen is very easy to read. Battery life can go for days or even a week or more if you turn off the wireless button.

Amazon wont sell to customers without US credit card and US address because the wireless downloading and internet access only works in the US Sprint EVDO network area, so they wont sell it to places where all of its features wont work (yet, anyway). But the device itself works everywhere and you CAN just download books via a computer and then transfer them to the kindle anywhere in the world with a computer that can access Amazon.com.

I thought about getting it... but thought it was really expensive.. for the device... and then for the books. i am sure its fun..

but something about turning the pages and knowing you are halfway through the book... that makes reading books exciting.

i probably would have bought it if it was around 99.00

eventually, it will be. publishers will probably start giving them away sooner or later when the electronic/digital media market busts wide open.

Kindle should have textbooks available for download. I would have definitely bought one, if that's all I had to carry around while in school!

I have the sony ebook reader prs 505. I Love it! I was looking into purchasing the kindle. Vain as it sounds, I really loved the look and feel of the sony. However, if you are thinking of purchasing a Kindle, hold off. Amazon is coming out with 2 new versions October 2008. A slightly more compact and a larger version in various colors. I will most likely purchase the updated kindle. Sony is also releasing a red reader with an updated system currently.

It was one of my best electronic purchases, I highly recc. having a reader!

I didn't realize you could do that. That's a nice feature.

Chloe2003, thanks for the info! I wonder what colors it will come out in.
