thinking about it, i expect a $600 minimum price point. only because when the ipod touch first came out, the highest price one of those was close to 500. if this is going to be a giant ipod touch then i don't see how it could be any cheaper than that. i bet this little sucker will be quite the pricey thing!

I think I'll end up getting an iSlate once they come out. As much as I would love another bag, tech almost always wins... I might wait a couple of months after release for it to not my incredibly difficult to get and maybe even wait for a price drop...

Thats a pretty good site/visual for what is gonna happen and what isn't (most likely)

Thanks for posting this link!!! Very interesting! Talk about in-depth speculation. (and to think here on this Forum, someone thinks its ridiculous for me to even start a thread like this based on speculation, yet on the internet there are so many reputable publications etc doing the same thing. I guess this person is living in Silicon Valley, with their head buried in the ground).

Chic, not cheap.
I'd be happy if Apple just bothered to launch something in the netbook market - they create some really fun innovative stuff, for goodness' sake get something out there!

Personally, smartphones have become very sophisticated nowadays w/ all that they offer. And netbooks and cheap laptops also do quite a bit. So for the iSlate to carve a niche into there and maintain that demand, will be quite a feat.

I would love to get the iSlate if it comes out. (I keep an eye on this stuff due to my day job). But there is so much available already...the iSlate needs to be "VERY" special.

Apple Invites Us To Jan 27 Special Event, Think iSlate?

Invitation sent to Kotaku today: "Please join Apple on January 27 for a Special Event." Assumption made by Kotaku today: iSlate reveal? Now, why would Kotaku be sent that?

"Come see our latest creation," the colorful invitation states.

Earlier this month, The Wall Street Journal reported that Apple's long-rumored tablet computer, the iSlate (perhaps?) would be shown to the press and the world on January 27. Today's invitation from Apple, e-mailed to Kotaku and numerous other outlets, suggests Apple does indeed have something big to announce that day at a morning event in San Francisco.

So... Kotaku, we do write about Apple, but mostly in the context of video games. So if we're going to leap to iSlate conclusions, let us also leap to gaming conclusions. iSlate Tower Defense anyone? iSlate R.U.S.E. (aka the real-time strategy game already planned for multi-touch screens) perhaps?

Or maybe Apple's just announcing another phone. Or an iStapler.

Dom, Dom, Dom...you evidently aren't aware of the blind, fanatical devotion that Mac addicts have for Apple.

Apple could release an iEtchASketch and they'll all think it's the best thing since the iMac.

This thing will carve out its own market even if it's more expensive and has less features than its competitors.

:)
